Dragons Underpowered.

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 8:08 am

Dragons are just.. not threatening. A few health potions, or a simple restoration spell and you can take on one of these bad boys in under 5 minutes.

Mammoths, Giants, Dragon-Sorcerers(or whatever they are) are far more threatening.. I've been killed by Falmer more than dragons so far.

Why would you make such a hyped up feature of this game so underpowered and easy to kill?
I want dragons to kick my [censored] ass across the room.

they seemed to be tied in some way to your level.. they are definately weaker then I expected, I posted earlier that I saw a wounded mammoth kill a full health dragon.. it was strange heh

I have not encountered a dragon yet as I immediately went tot he College of Winterhold after the opening sequence.

I have heard they are a bit on the weaker side though.

I'm playing on default difficulty (adept?) and I have trouble with other (weaker) things like Falmer (in hordes) and mammoths/giants obviously. So I don't think increasing the difficulty is going to make the dragons any more enjoyable. I don't want EVERYTHING to kill me immediately.

But it makes sense to me that dragons should actually scare the hell out of me, and make me want to run away... now they feel like a chore.

@Deadshadow, I have not yet.

And I'm level 10, if that matters.

This is likely true, as Bethesda would want you to be able to upgrade your shouts early and often for the main quest line. To do that you need dragon souls. To get dragon souls you need to kill dragons. Really no way around it but to tie them to player level in someway. I will say that each dragon I have fought has been harder than the last, so that's a good sign for things to come . . . .

Try sword and shield only with 2 minor health potions. And no spells. REALLY good fight and I survived by luck so that made it even better!

The developers had to make them weak enough for you to kill in order to advance your dragonshouts, while making them a challenge to defeat as well. Maybe they get more powerful later on? I'm only guessing they do.

READ THIS.

Remember when people were wondering how a thief class could handle a dragon?? Well in my opinion it is the BEST class to take down a dragon. Skilled in archery and it's ez cake mode. Just keep a good distance. Funny how everyone thought thief would be the worst class to go against them

The problem is if Dragons were extremely powerful, you wouldn't be able to start the main quest until you had wandered around and reached a really high level. If a new player wants to go through the MQ straight away then they have to at least have a chance of killing dragons.

I'm just guessing it's because you can avoid Giants and such for the most part. But Dragons can just swoop in at any time.

1. They get harder. Just wait.
2. It's the main quest. People would complain if they couldn't beat the main quest.
3. Set the difficulty to Master. Stand in front of a dragon. Watch what happens.

I personally haven't fought any dragons yet so i cant tell if they're easy but a temporary solution would be to set difficulty to master everytime u see a dragon and keep it at adept all other times? If they really are too easy then i'm sure there will be a mod to fix that later when mod tools get released.

I killed two of them thus far, but both times I was around cities so a lot of people helped, while I spammed spells on it.
The second one I started fighting it by myself, and it was awesome, until I ran into some stormcloak camp and they spoiled the fight.

How would that solve anything? Changing the difficulty makes everything harder. Sure, dragons would become more challenging, but I'd rather not have to worry about depleting my health potion supply if I end up in a fight with a chicken.

Well I am a stealth class, assissan, in the brotherhood, I completly avoided the main quest component, because I needed to level up and be ready for dragon.. :hubbahubba: LOL now I read this, and have to wonder.. I just finished up the golden claw dungeon, got the yell power I have like 5 now, and I need to kill me some dragons to get these shouts to work.. Playing a stealth charector is pretty hard, considering if you get seen allot of times your drinking your potions... Or cheesing it..

I cannot wait to kill dragons thou..

hardest enemy I have run into was trolls, at some kinda mountain passage or something it was a cave or something...
