Dragoon

Post » Wed Aug 08, 2012 12:26 am

Having no real good base of knowing what a Dragoon was, I read some stuff, especially some stuff from FF and some other rpgs and want to give a Dragoon a try. Make him a dragon warrior hunting dragons using halberds. I was thinking the headsmans axe would work and look great, and use anything halberd like weapons such as the glass battleaxe and eventually a sragonbone battleaxe.

My question is how to flesh out the character. Use horseback combat? (see dragoon from history) I was also thinking of using the great critical charge as his "leap" attack as it is closest to what I would want? Wear all dragon armor, but does the class usually use heavy or light? This build is also an assumption that a future DLC will most definitely include spears, but halberds would suffice for now.

you are making a dragon hunter class? correct? basing your build on fiction other than elder scrolls is not really my thing

'Sides, the player doesn't have a class in Skyrim, remember?

Man I loved being a dragoon in ffxi. Thing is this is one of those builds that would be hard to do in skyrim due to the limitations of the game. I'm really not sure how to go about building one.

First, get yourself a spear or halberd and then train your acrobatics dilligently so that you can leap high distances.

My sarcasm sense is tingling.

id never heard that word before but its badass definition seems counterintuitive to how ridiculous it sounds. but in terms of armor, has anyone ever tried a hybrid? like maybe leather boots for agility and heavy gauntlets? and now i'm picturing no chest armor, like barbarian-esque. though that could be a little gay. unless youre playing as a chick.

um, but my real advice is be creative and do whatever the hell you want man

and personally i'm not a fan of horse combat

On a more serious note, stick with heavy armor I think.

Might be able to get better inspiration from the game 'The Legend of Dragoon' for PS1. Shame you can't get the wings they had in that game, unless you make a mod. Also, I think 'dragoon' would be closer to 'dragon knight' than 'dragon hunter'.
