Driver Crash? White Square Artifacts and Freezing

Post » Mon Aug 09, 2010 7:28 am

Hi all,

Built a new PC a couple of weeks ago with a 570 card, and it runs fine with everything I have thrown at it. However it seems to be having some trouble with Crysis 2.

Everything runs fine and dandy most of the time but occasionally at random times it'll freeze with white squares all over the screen and the colors looking a bit funky, and then 1 of two things will happen:

1) Windows will restart the driver and tell me it stopped responding but it restarted it. Then the game will continue fine.

2)It will stay frozen forcing me to reboot.

Its intermittent, sometimes it'll happen 10 minutes in other times a couple of hours. It doesnt relate to the amount of stuff happening on screen either/the work the card is doing, sometimes theres very little there/going on sometimes there is a lot.

I've checked the temps on my GFX card and CPU and the 570 never goes above 85 C at the absolute max.

I've tried the most recent WHQL drivers and the latest beta ones. Still having the problem. It is ONLY with Crysis 2 I have had this trouble, and it doesn't seem all that consistent. Any tips? I'm thinking it might be a driver problem, and even hoping it is as it doesn't seem to have problems any other time!
