Dual blocking

Post » Thu Jul 26, 2012 8:38 am

i find it a bit awkward that the player can't block with 2 weapons, i even think it should be the opposite, it's just like not being able to aim with 2 guns, it makes no sense.

so, the point of this thread is, do you know a mod, a cheat, a "whatever" that allows players to block with dual wield weapons?

its for balancing reasons. And you cant aim with duel guns? you trie holding 2 UZIs in your hands and aim down the sights of both of them at once. no, not gonna happen.

Yep, all for balance...otherwise only the hardcoe roleplayers would use 1 1-hand weapon over dual wield.

I would be happy to just have an off-hand weapon that worked exactly like a shield (blocking and bashing only), rather than being the second weapon of a dual wield combo. That way I could play a character using a sword in one hand, and parrying dagger in the other.

Blocking with two weapons would be clunky and unrealistic given the games gameplay.

Don't try to block with two weapons. Your only going to confuse yourself.

No shields only equip on the offhand.

@OP; There is a trade off for the extra damage that dual wielding gives - no blocking. If there was no trade off everyone and his mum would just use dual wielding unless they were RP'ing. By having a trade off there is a choice that must be made, better defence or better attack. The choice is down to you.

There's a mod for PC's that allows dual wield blocking. I use it and love it, as it adds something that Bethesda should have done, rather than removing it for some arbitrary balance reason (which I've never bought as an explanation because really there are other ways to balance it out, such as require specific perks, or implementing it as a separate skill). Anyway, the mod in question currently requires the ScriptDragon scripting extension to use and allows you to configure a new key to use for the blocking. I've got it set to use my middle mouse button.

Not that I know of currently, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone mods that in in due course.

I believe one of the shields on your back mods has a bug in it where if you try to use a bow with your shield on your back, it throws your shield instead of shooting an arrow.
