2H vs. Dual Wield vs. 1h + spell (flame)

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 5:57 pm

Anyone have any thoughts to combat style of 2H vs Dual Wield? Thought Dual Wield would be cool, but seems kinda slow. Maybe I didn't give it enough time? Is the 1h + spell also a viable combat alternative?

Thanks.

I much prefer flames in one hand with a melee in the other. If Mr. Uber Orc Bandit Leader is charging at me with a battleaxe, I can backpedal and torch him until my magicka is depleted. After that, a few sword swipes or mace bashes often do the trick. Minimal health lost, if done right.

Exactly what I do. Sometimes even duel wield fire spells to take out dragons.

My mage dual wields bound swords when he gets into a tight spot. I find the power attacks is the main appeal of the dual wielding which gives 3 very quick strikes. Greatswords is a good backup weapon and deals a good amout of damage. Personaly I feel if you going melee go melee if ur using magic use magic the fire + sword combo doesnt work too well for me as I end up using one over the other too much.

What they said. Weapon and spell is an awesome combo, though as I'm going up in levels I'm doing more spell-dual-wielding (destruction).

I dual wield an ebony sword and dwarven axe and they are amazing for me. Once you get the perk to swing faster, nothing stops me. I used a spell in one hand and blade in the other for awhile but the flame spell ( woooooo :flamethrower: ) started to lose effect as i leveled up

I play a thief. I tend to have utility spell in my left hand and stabby thing in my right. When I have the stamina though I'm not going to downplay how quick I rip the universe apart while dual wielding. Also going duel wield focuses where you put perks into and make it so you only have to gain skill in one skill for more controlled leveling.

I use a ward in one hand and an ax in the other, works well if you know how to dodge while your ward is weak.
When using destruction in one hand and a weapon in the other, I always do repeated power attacks (easy once you get a rhythm), and then focus on the magic.

I'm using 2H, once you've somewhat mastered it, I enjoy all the dancing around and the timing of swinging huge and slow. I would suspect duel wielding 2 melee weps would be much the same tactically.

I'm having a lot of success dual wielding war axes, I can kill most stuff with one power attack (the three hit combo one). Can even take out several at once if they're close together (like after I've just shoved them all into the corner of the room with an unrelenting force shout). This at level 19 on expert difficulty. You have to invest points in stamina though or you'll run out too early in the fight.

Using a 2hander for my char and it's amazing.
Love the huge burst damage you do with it, aswell as the ability to bash and block. That bash is saves my rump all the time and who knew the best way to get a dragon to stop breathing fire on you was to punch it in the face?

Easy decision for me. You can block and bash(stagger0 with 2h, you can't with any type of dual wield.
