Dual Wield vs Two Hander

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 5:01 pm

So my idea for my character is an Orc that does massive damage to enemies and has a high defense. I know that I can't block, but is there any method of dodging attacks (I.E. roll from Oblivion) besides that with Dual Wielding? Also, does damage from Dual Wielding end up having more damage near the end then a Two Hander would? Just wanna make sure I'm choosing the best option at this point in time before I put too many perks into stuff. For backup I plan on using Archery.

for me i would want to do dual wield with light armor since stamina will be a concern. But not having at least the ability to block much less a shield id want the damage mitigation of heavy armor. Think my nord is gonna be a two hander.

Can you hold dual wielding daggers with the blades facing down?

Go ahead. Not sure if it'll be that great with this game but maybe it will be.

I've found holding a sword in one hand and cure magic in the other to be incredibly useful.. after a bit of playing, I would not play a 2 sword character... I'd dual wield or swap out to magic when needed. There have been battles I would not have survived without curing while attacking at the same time.

I don't know if I'm going to want to mess with alchemy, enchanting, or smithing.. seems like too much time is needed to make them good. I may reroll an armor wearing mage.

light armor dual wielding archer with restoration magic here, Breton for the magic protection of 25%.. plus they look humanoid, and are treated like norgs and imperials by the population. Loving it. But still going to reroll a mage to try it.

If I wanted to abuse critical hits, I'd build for dual swords. I still wonder what Skyrim-crits are like, though.

Funny thing is that you can get really close to your enemy, sneak attack with a bow and then charge with a 2hander. 2 handed weapons do 2x damage per hit compared to 1h but attack 40% slower, so you actually have great burst damage that way and you can block which is a must have for a warrior.

I tried rolling, it doesn't work good enough to dodge attacks so you should get high alteration/restoration (alteration has a 80% physical damage reduction buff at master level) or use block to fight toe to toe or hit and run if you don't use magic.

Anyway I recommend to use 1 defensive school of magic with dual wielding, you will nead it.
