Dual wielding: dagger+dagger or dagger+sword?

Post » Thu Jun 21, 2012 5:19 pm

Wow, what??? A dagger is a one-handed weapon and should benefit from one-handed perks. Can anyone confirm this??!
Everyone calm down. Armsman perk affects daggers. Bladesman perk does not affect daggers. One-Hand enchantments do not affect daggers.

@Sokjal- you might be thinking of a "lucky" dagger that can be found in the game. It has a special ability to have a 25% critical chance. It is the one dagger that does have a critical chance.

Critical Hits DO NOT produce lots of extra damage in Skyrim because the extra damage is based on the BASE weapon damage and it gets added to the damage AFTER all your skill, perk and enchantment increases / multipliers. However, I do think each Critical Hit staggers the enemy (or has a chance to stagger them) and that does not need to be underestimated.

Armsman does affect daggers I just tested it now, my dagger was at 40 damage, just bought three ranks of armsman and now it's at 64 damage!.

I must be cracking up because I was sure I tested this with a different dagger ages ago and it didn't show any improvement, probably a glitch between the damage rating in the weapon and the one at the bottom of the screen muddling me up or something.

-edit-
Thanks for the clarification Udey, that's what I tested first time, whether one handed enchants worked and they didn't, which I find silly as surely a dagger counts as a one handed weapon.

I suggest an arrow to the back of the head...

Seriously, though, I would use the best sword and/or dagger you have available at the time -- unless you are sneaking behind someone to backstab, then I'd use a dagger for sure.

Currently, I'm using dagger+sword, but I'm contemplating switching to dual daggers, but I'm not really sure yet. Any pros and cons to using dual daggers as opposed to dagger+sword?

the con is that you're going against your roleplay.

Dual Daggers generally.

Only excuse to go Dagger-Sword is if I really really want to use one of the artifact swords...

Backstab/sneak attacking with dual-wielded axes kills almost everything in one hit. If not, it definitely staggers, and one more hit does them in, and you're still untouched. It's almost too easy.

chillrend + nightengale blade = lol godmode. (or alternatively, any two enchanted weapons with paralyze/hp|stam steal combo)

I would only use daggers for sneak attacks, not regular combat.
