Dungeons scare the crap out of me...

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 3:33 am

I told myself I'd be brave in Skyrim.
I told myself I wouldn't go hiding in the shadows and make every dungeon last 3 hours.

Yeah that didn't happen. As I'm typing this I'm in the second dungeon for the mainquest (not going into details) and am pausing the game and alt tabbing to the forums after every enemy I kill so I don't get a heart attack.
My headphones sound quality doesn't really help either.
*Hear footsteps*
"Oh damnit... :("

Just had to get that off my chest... I need detect life so I can relax just a bit more.

I was going to make a thread about this because I thought I was the only one who was scared by dungeons in this game. Oblivions dungeons were pretty predictable so it wasn't that bad but Skryims dungeons have that claustrophobic feel to it. I just got a companion so It's a little better now.

Hmmm companion, good idea. But I'm afraid those might have bad AI, or I might kill them.

The dungeon atmosphere is too damn good... :(

Oblivions did, but Skyrims are 10x better.

You must be either TOO immersed in the game, or a wuss ;). What kind of character are you playing that's got you so scared of encounters? A squishy mage?

I remember Morrowind's dungeons being like that, it's good to know that scary dungeons are back.

When the weird zombie nords came at me I was a little freaked out. Oh and those little rat type things can really jump out at you sometimes.

I was a bit nervous when I was running away from a giant but I just didn't want to reload :P.

Both and a Warrior.
I'm probably the first ever terrified Nord Warrior, some example I am as Dragonborn...

For the record Oblivion/Morrowind dungeons also scare me to death, so yeah I'm a wuss.

The only thing that would make Skyrims dungeons a bit better is if they turned down the light a little bit.

But I know in the future there will be a darker dungeons mod . . .

I dislike spiders, and hearing the howling of a wolf in the pitch black of night is chilling. Awesome adrenaline kick though.

Yes the dungeons are much creepier then they were in Oblivion. Which is a good thing. They should make you feel a bit nervous and jumpy, since you have no idea what waits for you around the next corner. :D

I wish I was only jumpy. Currently I'm downright terrified... :(

Bandit dungeons are fine, undead not so much. And guess where the main quest takes me!

I get creeped out sometimes, heck, even when re-exploring an already-cleared dungeon.

I was more terrified of Oblivion dungeons than I am of Skyrim dungeons. In Skyrim I have the bring it on attitude.

Dear god I nearly had a heart attack.

I was sneaking through a cave, next to a tomb. Suddenly it bursts open and a Draugr comes stumbling out.

I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN AAAAAAAAAAGHJGFHDJS...
