Dunmer Shoes will accept Fortify Smithing enchantment.

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 9:32 am

It seems Dunmer Shoes (acquired during Served Cold) are classed as torso apparel enchantment-wise, meaning I now have a five-piece smithing set instead of a four-piece. These seem to be the only boots that will accept otherwise torso-only enchantments.

/just a heads-up.

Wonder if they accept any other enchantments not normally found on shoes.

Yes, they accept all the enchantments that are supposed to go on a torso, like Fortify Smithing and Magicka Regen, and none of the enchantments that are supposed to go on shoes, like Muffle or Fire/Frost/Shock Resist.

Huh I figured they might have been miss assigned as gloves. Good news for mages as they can be another slot for Fortify school.

You can get a pair of the shoes on the mission to save the councilor from assassination. You will have to kill a certain elf who will be wearing them. That's the only place I've seen them.

No rush for that. Beth can't patch DLCs.

Given that they can patch their game on all three platforms, I'd say it is more of a won't. Most likely due to the prohibitive pricing for rolling out patches on XBox (and PS3, I think).

By the way ... do you have a link for an official statement from Bethesda on that? I'd like to read it.

There are 2 ways to obtain.
One, at the Mission in Severin Manor, Two, pickpocket/loot off a Dumner wearing them.
Did y'all forget about pickpocketing?

It take me forever and a day to pour through the find it. It has to do with the fact that there is no way for the platforms to determine who has what DLC and load order. So patches can only be applied to the base game. J.E Sawyer mentioned it while the New Vegas DLC was rolling out. I'm not going to spend hours looking through the forums to find it. I think it was also mentioned when Operation Anchorage was released. The DLC had so many issues they had to pull it from Xbox Live and reupload it so it be playable.

I did find J.E Sawyer mentioning it on http://www.formspring.me/JESawyer/q/227735571248741163
