A Dunmer Vampire that uses fire destruction?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 6:32 pm

Was going to start a new Dunmer assassin and become a vampire. I'd like to use Illusion and Destruction magic but a Vampire using fire spells seems a bit odd to me. What do you think??

Once my mage became a vampire, she quit using all fire spells and sold all her fire spell staves. As a vampire, it makes RP sense to fear fire.

Strictly ice and lightning for me!

Just don't let that Dunmer get drunk. There will be ashes.

Yeah I suppose I could still use lightning spells. I just didn't want to use only ice destruction spells. I may just go with Illusion and Conjuration instead. Too many decisions... :banghead:

I enchanted a ring and necklace with Fire Resist and fear nothing. With Aspect of Terror and Necromage I burn down everything that runs at me - including my own kind very effectively.

Lol, OP, I have a character with the exact same build right now. He's a Dunmer vampire, uses destruction and illusion, and specializes in fire and fury.
He doesn't have too many problems defending himself, and so far he's almost hit level 40 with few problems. I'm playing on expert, though, so sometimes I need to stop and dial the difficulty down for a couple of incoming blows to avoid that oh-so-annoying death.

It makes perfect sense for a Dunmer to be the one race that can be a Vampire who's unafraid of fire, because they have innate Fire Resist.

I don't understand why there are players who feel they have to impose a stereotype on their characters. You don't have to be evil to join the Dark Brotherhood, you don't have to be good to be the Dragonborn. Real people have much more complex reasons for doing what they do. And I don't see why having a weakness means you also have to be afraid of your weakness. The two don't necessarily go together.

Very well said! :)

Maybe they just like to dance close to the fire, as the Nords would say.

I went through the same phase as you when I was building my vampire dunmer. And I came to the decision that he can use both. Fire comes from the Dunmer Side of him, and Frost is from the Vampire Side of him.
