Will the disc be required to be in the drive after installing the DVD?

AFAIK steam games never need the DVD in the drive, it is one of the pros to a steam game. Also you should be able to download it again from steam should you ever lose the DVD.

Nope.
Step 1.Open box and remove key + other goodies
Step 2.Enter key to steam
Step 3. File dvd and box with the rest of your game horde.

For the record,Steam is the drm for this and there is no need for the dvd.You can install from it,but you dont have to.Your allowed to have one active online connection to steam at a time.Dosent matter which computer you use,or if you still have the dvd.
