Elder Scrolls Lore - Search Advice

Post » Thu Nov 08, 2012 3:21 am

I am interested in reading about the lore behind the games - I realise I could just type into Google but then I still don`t know which sites are `good` - I also realise there are a lot of people here who would know.

So Question

`where do I look to find out more about Elder Scrolls Lore`

Thanking you in advance - Steve

http://www.imperial-library.info/ is good.

Check out the http://www.gamesas.com/forum/16-elder-scrolls-lore/ too, both the discussions and the pinned topics.

Go to the Lore section and look at the post "How to Become a Lore Buff". Some very good advice there.

UESP is ok, but more for gameplay. Also, do not fall for the muck that is on ES Wiki.

The Library can be considered the "The Source of Truth" where you will find all the accepted Lore. Also, all in game books are there, and there are postings from the Developers and story writers for the game. The Lore Forums are where you will find all the discussions and some more tidbits. Some of those discussions become the Lore, some just shape the Lore, some is just interesting.

Note, the Lore Forum is one of the few that we don't prune, so there are threads in that section going back to 2008. So, there is a good chance that what ever you want to ask about already has been asked, so do a Search over there.

Don't know if this was mentioned, but the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls is a great site for lore. Plenty of pictures too for those that like visual appeal too. It has a lot more than just lore.

If you want strictly lore, use the library though.

Personally, whenever I need a good fill of lore I open up all 3 sites simutaneously. UESP, ES Wiki, and The Imperial Library.

ES wiki has a lot of bad information on it, I'd stick mainly to UESP and The Imperial Library not saying UESP has 100% accurate at all times but way more than ESwiki.

No, it really isn't. It's been discussed to death and the consensus is that the only thing TESWiki is really good for are pictures. If you want the all-in-one wiki approach, stick to UESP - it's neater and more reliable.
