Elder Scrolls Online: Not A Good Idea to Me

Post » Tue May 28, 2013 5:03 am

I'm sorry, but I do not see the point of making this. I don't mean to hate, because I honoestly LOVE Elder Scrolls, but why online? Just think about this, We all play Elder Scrolls for the fun of being the main character, doing everything solo, such as getting resources and armor and weapons. But online, there will be those annoying noobs always following you no matter what you say and do. They will: A) Just annoy you by following you -OR- B) Kill you when you least expect it and steal your stuff. Like seriously. You could just be walking in the woods or in a city and all of a sudden a mob of players jump out and maul you. And also, as I said before, we like to play because we're the main character. Well with this, you're not. There WILL be people who are favored by most of the other players, because he/she gives them stuff or is nice to them or they just have a lot of stuff. Now I'm not saying stop making it, I'm just sharing my opinion. And there will always be those annoying voice pvssyrs. Talking away to everyone thinking that they all care. Then you look at ALL of the hackers and modders that will be crawling on the servers. That will lead to milliions of complaints. Ruining the fun for everyone. And trust me, I speak from experience. Yes I have been hacked. Recently. Now, you just let all that information sink it and just thinkk about it. Peace ;)

So it is not a good idea based on a bad experience you had?

...okay? You either cannot be serious or you have very little knowledge of this game. While i cannot say your preference is wrong because well it is your preference, there are vast amount of people who are looking forward to this game.

Actually, that not the case. Cyrodiil is the only PvP zone - if you don't want to be ganked, just don't go there and stick to your faction's provinces.

TESO is happening whether you like it or not, it's much too late to change it. I can give you only one advice: if you don't like the idea of an online TES game, don't play it. It's that simple.

Also add (targeted at the OP, not you) that TESO is not even being developed by Bethesda. I am assuming the OP thinks this is a bad idea because it may halt anything Bethesda has going, which is not the case.

As a note please update your knowledge as to what is actually being developed for the game before you go spouting nonsense.

Word of advice: don't speak for anybody but yourself when you make statements like these. Not everybody plays certain games for the same reasons you do.

Like many of our discussions here you do what will be fun for you. If it will not be fun for you then don't play.

I cant count how many times (including last night) I've said "Man, I wish this was multiplayer (talking about Skyrim)" talking to my wife. Me and her love gaming together, and since the Elder Scrolls series is my favorite I've always wished we could enjoy it together.

So, cool story OP.

I think it is a great idea. Back in the days me and my bro's where always talking how great it would be if we could adventure together in Daggerfall. Now is our chance. I never understood people who don't want a game as they think it is going to svck. All you have to do is don't buy/play it.

Adn what do you mean with "WE like to play because we are the main character"? Don't you mean "YOU". I like to play my character in a world full of other people doing there stuff. And I make my own story no matter what quests they will throw at me. Maybe i skip the main quest and do whatever i do in the TES games. Just fool around and this time I can PvP yeeehaw.

Too many things in that post I don't want to sit here and try to correct, but here are a few things:

1) The whole noob people following you around and annoying you, either put them on your ignore list and never see them say anything, or do something I like to call, ignoring them.

2) People can only jump out and kill you in Cyrodiil. If you don't like the feeling that at any moment you could be attacked and killed then never go there.

3) There will be mods in the game. That has been a big thing about MMOs, but most of the time they are just UI mods. Yes, there will be hackers. There are hackers in pretty much every online game ever. You know how you handle it? You can't let ZOS try and police everything you need to take the initiative and tell them that you have suspicions that someone is hacking and they will handle it if it's true. Also if you allow your account to get hacked you are going to some pretty shady websites you shouldn't be going to and giving them your account information to be hacked. In my 6 years of playing WoW I only had the authenticator for the last 2 years and never once had my account hacked.

Those were just a few things from that post I wanted to talk about. But it seems like the OP knows nothing about this game and I recommend to you that you take the time and actually read up on the game before you start going on your rant on why an online version of TES is bad, when you make no points that are valid at all.

I've been severely hacked three times, and it's not putting me off one bit from ESO. And besides, if you think back to all your happiest memories in life - they were most likely with other people, not alone.

Um, well.....it's your OPINION. You don't have to play it if you don't want to.

Plus, Skyrim and its downloadable content ain't that old, so you can do that too.....

It's you who like to play because you are the main character. There are lots of other fans like me who like to play because of the lore and roleplaying possibilities. Having LAN based multiplayer for singleplayer game would be even better but there's nothing wrong with MMO. Think about it: Several characters without the limitations of NPCs are wandering in the wilderness, encountering each others, talking, trading, sharing a bottle of mead near a fire, telling stories, hiring aid for adventures, exploring together and all ways possible sharing the roleplaying experience with their own characters whos personality and dialogue will surprise you more than NPCs ever could do. Think about a single player came where instead of AI there's actually real human brains behind every individual character in the game - that's what the TESO is about.

Thats hard to believe. Do you only count the guys who hack on to other peoples accounts as hackers? Or do you count botters and cheaters as hackers too? Or maybe you just didn't know that they were using hacks of some sort.
