Elder Scrolls Suggestions & Ideas

I've been playing Skyrim none-stop in the last month, and I've come up with some ideas and suggestions for the Bethesda team to consider when developing the next game in the greatest video game franchise of all time.

First of all... I know you cut it for a reason, and probably don`t want to bring it back... But please, by all that is good in this world, on behalf of every Elder Scrolls fan out there right now... BRING BACK ALTERATION MAGIC!!!

By that I mean FLIGHT. I miss the glory days of Morrowind, when you had created the best magic system ever, hands down, and if you disagree, die.

From Morrowind to Skyrim, the magic system went from the greatest, most genius thing in video game history, to an average element in a great game.

... Please, Bethesda... Bring back the old magic system...

Secondly: Shops become redundant and essentially useless in the games. Say what you will, rally your argument, but it`s just a fact. The Shops of Skyrim, like the shops of Oblivion, or Morrowind, become outdated, and simply a place to hawk booty for extra gold.

Then I had an idea. What if you had random Khajiit traders coming in and out of the map with random items (based on your level/quest progress/etc.), and selling them to, or trading them with local vendors, switching up, impoving and changing the current stock of shops on a regular basis. This would make the game's shops a lot more interesting, and useful. Myself, I would start visiting and browsing shops more regularly.

Mounted Combat. Please... just give us mounted combat by default. And don't cheap the mages out, let us use magic from our mounts.

Unique Weapons/Enhanced Smithing System.
Am I the only one who got sick of creating the same, basic weapons, and giving them the same, redundant upgrades before enchanting them with redundant, one dimensional spell effects??

GET CREATIVE!!!

This is an odd little idea I had. IN every game you start as a relative nobody, usually a prisoner in a foreign land. You design yourself, then set out on an epic quest, usually done by yourself.

Now I have a lonewolf complex, I usually don't use followers, but in Skyrim I got into using them a little more. But they are so monotonous, boring, seemingly anonymous. Your only allies are usually NPC's who mearly provide conversation.

For once, what if at the start of the game, there is one character who you form a REAl bond with; a REAL kinship. You design this NPC the way you would your own character. If a name is the concern, just have 2 preset names, one male, one female. TRUST me, this ins't a big deal.

That character, although you haven't met prior to the beginning of the game, could become a vital character to the story. Someone you can TRULY call an ally, who impacts both the plot, and potentially your experience in general.

Children:

I want my own child. Not an adopted child. I always wondered what would happen if a Dark elf mated with an Emperial. And why we never saw a real mixed-race character in 6 games.

Let us create our own offspring with our spouses. It might be tricky, but you could work out a genetic system that would further enrich the lore and dynamics of the franchise.

Also, add some more features and dynamics to the family experience. Let us actually interact with our spouses, and raise our children, doing little side-quests, etc. I always thought it would be awesome to do quests with my son, teaching him how to fight, work, etc.

These are few small suggestions that would make the next game a much better title, and bring you a little closer to making a game that can stand up to Morrowind, because Oblivion, and Skyrim have fell short of Morrwind, and lived in it's shadow.

Two things, and I don't mean to be a jerk by pointing them out:

1. From reading the OP, it looks to me like you're speaking of changes that could be made to the next Bethesda-made solo TES game rather than TESO.

The response I expect to this is "Well, they can apply to both". I would answer not really, since some things you speak of improving (such as children/marriage) don't even exist in TESO to my knowledge.

You're free to post about it of course, but the mods may well move this thread since it doesn't seem to pertain to TESO. Also...

2. There is literally another suggestion thread, (specifically about TESO) on the first page a few topics beneath this one as I write this... Which makes a thread move all the more likely.

Lots of editing may be necessary to keep it on this board, if that's your goal.
