Elder Scrolls: The Final Frontier

Post » Mon Dec 19, 2011 6:40 am

A duality exists in me, as my passions for both "medieval" and "space" games/lore etc. and as in love with The Elder Scrolls series, Dungeons and Dragons, Baldur's Gate (the list goes on) as I am, I am frustrated and saddened with the lack of modern or futuristic RPG.

Can you even begin to imagine, The Elder Scrolls mechanics (free roaming, radiant quest atmostphere, ability to do almost anything with anything) the richness and depth of the lore, all the intricacies of the games, but in a space setting?

Now I'm not talking bring The Elder Scrolls to space, but what if Bethesda made such a game/series? I wouldn't be able to handle it. I think I'd completely lose it. I wonder if they've ever considered, or have plans for it?

If you're an Elder Scrolls fan and happen to be a space nerd like me, I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

First game that got me into science fiction RPGs was Knights of the Old Republic, followed by KOTOR:II and Star Ocean:Till the End of Time.

Before that, I never thought it could work. Mass Effect is the pinnacle of these games, for me at least. I wouldn't mind seeing an open-world type experience set in the future, it could be pretty nifty.

I love Mass Effect, but I mean LITERALLY, a game that plays just like Oblivion, or Skyrim in a space setting. Mass Effect is more along the (mechanic) style of a game like Fable for me; not as liberal and open aired as an Elder Scrolls game.

And to the guy who said KOTOR: Hahaha YES! I'm starting that again this week.
