Elderscrolls without first person view?

Post » Fri Aug 03, 2012 9:37 pm

The elder scrolls online will not feature first person view (only third), which is regretable as this will make in my opinion the game to similar to already existing MMORPG's out there with NOTHING new to offer.
No backstabbing without noticing, No feel of actually being right in the middle of it, and part of the world itself.

Feel free to share your opinion or convince me that I am wrong and something is unique about this MMORPG and will set it apart from every other.

Where did you hear that there is no first person view?

I have no intention of convincing anyone that this MMORPG will be unique.
Wait and see, observe facts, question yourself whether it is marketing buzz.

Well I have seen the interviews and promo vid of ES online and it was without first person view, I'd say it is doubtful we will see it in there. Which to me would mean I wouldn't even think of buying it.

You can zoom the camera in for first person view, but the game isn't designed to be played from that perspective so it'll probably be kinda bad.

You can play in FP and I intend to while exploring in relatively safe areas but you really need to zoom out to TP for combat.

Zooming in the camera doesn't really give you a first person view as the current ES series do. In my opinion it will not feel like ES at all without the classic first person view. Why would you need to zoom out to third person view for combat? Never do or did that with morrwond/oblivion or skyrim.

I agree that it won't be the true FP as in TES single-player games but I guess I am just happy that we get the ability to view the game and move around in FP. No matter the implementation, I think it is always preferable to engage in combat in TP when playing mmos imo. There is just too great a likelihood that another enemy player is coming to attack you from behind and you really need to have a 360 field of view to guard against nasty surprises. It is much easier to recover from such surprises in a single-player game.

Well its an MMO so yeah you can zoom into 1st person view, but 3rd person view is the best way to play it.

Also should use the search these forums before posting, this topic has been done literally hundreds of times already.

And why should I want to search before posting? You post only unique topics?
