Emotes - Longevity of Animations?

So, I take it most of us have read this article:

http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/news/post/2013/09/03/enter-the-emote-creation-contest

Make no mistake, this is no post meant to discuss the contest itself, but rather the long list of animated emotes we see at the bottom of the article, and this brings me to a matter which was always bothered me about some MMOs, the longevity of said animations.

What I mean is that some times, you can do an emote like... Say, "/crossarms" so that your character, well, crosses his arms before his chest - but in some MMOs, when we do animated emotes like this, it only lasts for about 3-4 seconds, whereas certain animations such as "/sit" keeps you in that permanent position. As a roleplayer, I'd like to be given the oppoturnity to choose just for how long I want my character to assume a pose, without having to type it in every fifth second.

What do you people think?

Absolutely, of course it won't work for every emote, /blowkiss and /phew for example.

Might also be nice to have a 'cancel animation' button. It looks a little silly to run forward a step or jump just to stop crossing your arms.

For example, you type /crossarms and your character crosses his arms, and stays that way. Then when you hit the 'cancel' key, whatever it may be, your character would do an animation that takes him from crossed arms back into idle.

I voted yes for longer lasting emotes. one reason is cause sometimes is easy to miss when some one does the emote and I didn't see it. or other times I did an emote and the person I was targeting the emote to was afk and never saw it performed. we should have the control as to when it is complete. maybe allow it to repeat until we move our character would help.

Yup, certain emotes should stay until you move or do a new emote.

i voted don't care, undecided. i think the developers are smart enough to figure out which emotes should last (/dance, /sit, etc.) and which should be restrained by time (/wave, /laugh, etc.)
