Do you really need to be coddled? The game is almost 10 years old.

Well, seeing as I only played it a few months ago, not everyone has played it yet. It doesn't take much to add a spoiler tag...

Funny, because I really didn't find that upsetting. For the way it panned out for my character, it was touching to see all my companions still supported me.

Countless games have made me feel true emotions and made me cry. I truly enjoy a good story.

Mass Effect 1, the final bit of the end
Spoiler
where they're digging the team out of the wreckage of the council chambers, all sad that Shep didn't make it, and then Shep comes climbing out of the ruins
Very stirring, even on multiple replays - good combination of music, scene-setting, etc.

Mass Effect 3, the various plot-resolution story arcs for several of the party members & their factions. Like Mordin. And the Quarian-Geth conflict... especially the "bad" ending. AAAA! So sad when
Spoiler
Tali commits suicide.
Tear up just writing it here. So glad I managed to avoid that in-game, and only saw it on Youtube.

Unfortunatley I thought I was doing the right thing and Tali would understand, boy was I wrong.

I got attached to the characters in The Walking Dead really quickly. I can't wait for episode 3.

Maybe not exactly what you mean but:

I've started playing Far Cry 2 recently and I was driving on the road (which is only wide enough for 1 car) when a car came driving towards me. So I slowed down and tried to make room while that car just crashed into me at full speed.
My first reaction was like "Ow man, you alright?", at which point he got out of his car, took his AK from his back and started shooting me.

I had hoped that there would be 'innocent' NPC's in the game to make it feel more alive but apart from the central town (which is having a seize-fire) and a handful of 'buddies' everyone is out to kill you. Which in turn means that the game forces you to kill just about everything that moves.

That combined a rather lousy story (up till now) which doesn't adequately explain why you're killing/destroying certain targets kind of made me sick. There's a war going on between 2 factions but it's like the player isn't supposed to care about any of the people involved. I actively had to remind myself that they're just NPC's (breaking immersion) because I couldn't justify continuing the game otherwise.

Wow, awesome!

Of course next week I'll be complaining about episode 4 not being here yet.

Telltale and their episodic games... They seem to be the only ones that can actually pull it off.

If a decade isn't enough time to get around to playing a game, I can't help ya.

Did you know that Samus from Metroid is a girl, or have you not got around to that either?

One that induced rage in me was Smoke and Ryder in GTA:SA. You were my homies! Ride or die! How you gonna betray Grove St. like that?

Think Metal Gear Solid 2 was probably the most significant to me.

Spoiler
You have to kill that vamp guy, but the little girl still dies in the end.

Star Ocean: The Second Story also was pretty well done having an emotional backing to it.

Spoiler
Like the fact that Rena is an alien, but on top of that her mother tried to save her and it's more complicated than that. Due to being shot through space in a special machine she's traveled into the future and cannot return to her mother even if she wanted.

When Soap got killed in MW3, it left me speechless---a frist that I actually had an emotional response in a video game.

Well you play as the guy in the first two MW games and then see him die right in front of you is like watching an old friend pass away. Still the scene afterwords was classic.
