Enchanting Disenchanting Question

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:39 pm

Hello.

I will first say that I visited every possible reliable source of Skyrim info. From wiki to USP to even some yahoo answers. I did not find what I was looking for.

Okay.

I playing Mage style. So when I found some bracers that have +13% Heavy Armor better something I went to Disenchant them. Great. 1 skill up. Anyway, 2-3 levels later, I find ANOTHER bracers with +25% Heavy Armor better something. Same deal except 13% and 25%.

I can't disenchant 25% ones. It says I already know this enchantment. Obv, but this one is stronger. Why? I only have 13% enchantment in my list. This was just a example I know best cuz I have 2 of these 25% bracers waiting in chest for some revelation.

Also I have better Robes, rings, amus to disenchant, better weapons with better enchants and I can't do anything with them.

I understand Enchanting well and I am making phat profit even before I've read "the tips". This is the only thing I don't understand why game won't let me disenchant Items that have higher value of my previosly learned disenchant. It's not like I can exploit this because once I learn 25%, only possible move is to find bracers with 30-50%...
And can someone please tell me what am I supposed to do with APPRENTICE Robes which I have no use anymore and I disenchanted NOVICE robes earlier and have MUCH weaker effect and I have Armor waiting to be enchanted.

I stored all this in chests because i don't wanna make mistake.

Any clarification on this subject would be much appreciated.

EDIT:

Few examples...

Enchant I can use:

Foritfy Destruction 8%. I have stuff that if disenchanted could make that 15%.
Fortify Conjuration 8%. Same
And many of same low level stuff I disenchanted when I was in 3-8-10 levels range.

Thank you.

you learn the enchant it doesnt matter how much is it 1% or 35% YOU learn it you know it , end of story ,
To make it better you dont need relearn it , you need a better soul gem , and a better ench skill higher one , more skill more perks better soul = MORE %

hope i was understandable

I cut out all the stuff that was irrelevant.

I'm afraid you don't understand Enchanting well. When you disenchant something, you learn that category of enchantment, not the specific enchantment itself. So when you disenchanted your +13% Fortify Heavy Armour bracers, you learned the "Fortify Heavy Armour" enchantment - NOT the "Fortify Heavy Armour +13%" Enchantment.

You can therefore enchant any new item with +X% Heavy Armour. The value of X is determined by your Enchanting skill and the size of the soul in the Soul Gem you use.

Therefore you can't disenchant a +25% Heavy Armour item, because you already know the enchantment. Same applies to the robes.

No really, I understand it quite well. I just didn't know that fact. With this, now I think I got it all. Thank you very much.

I knew soul gems were extremely important in the final result and I was applying best gems so far in all my equipment, just didn't know why I cannot disenchant higher % items and have THAT % value listed in my base enchantments available. 8% or 15% Fortify Destruction/Conjuration...

Anyway, thank you. I will experiment a little to see will I get higher than 8% with Grand Soul Gem. Have one filled. Got 8% with Greater. Which makes sense. 1%-3%-8%-15%.

do note it′s the enchanment skill that sets a roof on how good it can be, so even if you have a super, uber soul gem yuo can still only squeeze X% plus out of a enchantment

(at least that′s the impression I get)

Yes, you were right. It's the Skill + Soul Gem = % that shows in your menu and the result.

I was so obsessed why it shows my initial low enchantment and why I cannot dis higher % that I overlooked such important things. Well a good lesson for future.

Thanks again.
