End my life...

I decided to make an Argonian 1handed sword and board character, as a soldier of the Black Marsh.

I spent 2 hours customizing the character, and as soon as I got out, it turned out I actually don't like how he looks.

Am I crazy or is this game purposely making me go insane.

I did the same thing.

I made a Breton with the 2 "blind" eyes (meant to look like he was consumed by magic) and black sunburst warpaint by his eyes, and heavy dirt on his face.

I was like "OMG'z he lookz teh dark and evilzz0rz!!!" and then a few hours in I was like ugh, [censored], I don't like how this character looks.

He was accidentally deleted when I made an X-Box boo-boo, so I'm contemplating re-creating him the right way (fixing his appearance, as well as making a couple different perk choices), or making a completely new character (which won't be a totally different character, it'd be a Wood Elf instead of a Breton, and skill selection would be One Handed / Dual Wield, Heavy Armor, Conjuration, Enchanting, Illusion, as opposed to the Breton who was One Handed / Dual Wield, Heavy Armor, Conjuration, Enchanting, Smithing, and some dabbling in Restoration, Alteration, and Speech)

Ive made 3 Argonians, I finally set on one after hours of customization, color options, feather/horns, I think the Argonians have the most amount of options to choose from with all their coloring choices.

If you're on the pc you can change the looks of your character again by opening the console and typing "showracemenu". I've actually done this for several characters now because the lighting during the execution isn't very good when you create your character the first time, imo.

It's worse than you think and they are out to get you. This message will self-destruct in ... uh... Brother Maynard? A little help, please?

The character creation has been dumbed down to the point where who really cares about it. Redguard once a day power is now a stamina boost.....in Oblivion it was a power that actually did something.

I still cry every time I think about the loss of the paper doll on the menu screen. Talk about killing the incentive to build new characters.

Why, Beth, why??

Just wait until you get perks and find out a large amount of them are worthless or the typical dead NPC or Black Star along with some other junk.

I mean, if a paper doll is the only incentive you have to create new characters, then quite frankly I feel for your RP skills.

I have made two characters. My main is a Khajiit and the second is a Wood Elf. I absolutely love how both look and would not change a thing about how each of them look. Even at almost 200 hours of game play. Perhaps I'm just lucky. :)

Four times with my 5th remake of my character. So yeah, you aren't the only one that is a perfectionist with your Dovahkiin's looks. Of course, it is difficult to make a bad looking Argonian. My Nord (the one I spoke of earlier) has to be dashing yet hard looking, as if he has seen his share of battle and horror, yet he is mostly good. My Dovahkiin's looks have to be attractive, but beyond that, they have to tell a story.

My Redguard looks like he'd be a Werewolf. Is there a hairy chest option? I don't remember =/

Access the console and type in "showracemenu" without quotations. It will allow you to change your character's look and put you into the character creation. I use it all the time when I notice something ugly about my character, i also used it in morrowind and oblivion. I recommend doing it in a lighted area, where it is easier to see your character's face.

I honestly can't fathom where this is coming from. For starters your face does not look like it has been freshly squeezed out of a Playdo mold. Maybe your gripe is that each race is customizable only within a certain threshold from the base appearance. Technically means they are less customizable, but the end result is that a Nord looks distinctly Nordish and an Elf distinctly Elven no matter how much you fiddle with the controls. This is a huge step forward if you ask me.

As for making the perfect character in one go, here is a decent tutorial from the forums:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1308919-tutorial-how-to-create-beautiful-characters/

A bit lengthy but well written, and includes some appearance mods if you are on pc. Try removing any hair, accessories, warpaint when you are working on the face and only build up from there once you are satisfied with their appearance. A mage with glowing eyes and face paint is basically always going to look badass at first glance.

with my first character, a dunmer, i went in and worked on him for maybe 5-10 minutes, and he turned out absolutely perfect in every way, i couldnt have been happier with him.

funny how that happens.

My prettiest female character is a redguard. Maybe it has to do with my disposition toward women of color
