[Spoil] Ending with vamps

Post » Wed Nov 21, 2012 11:46 am

OK, i just finished the extension with vampires and i'm pretty disappointed with the end.

My goal was to stay loyal with Harkon, be his stooge so really turn of the sun forever and invade all Skyrim with darkness, terror and vampires's supremacy.

It svcks that we can't REALLY have the choice, we're just forced to be content with Serana and do exactly the same quests as if we are in the opposite side.

What an illusory...

He's a [censored] that tricked you into doing the hard work for him.

Sounds like pretty standard Dr. Evil type of stuff to me. lol

He was gonna kill you anyway because you showed you were strong and he has an inferiority complex, I guess.

You CAN still blot out the sun, ya' know..

Its just its a death sentence for every hold in Skyrim since Vampires endlessly rampage through the lands slaughtering everyone if you are near a hold, they don't attack you until you attack them though, I think.

Basically..blot out the sun and go to holds if you want every shopkeeper to die.

Harkon only turned you into a vampire so you can do the heavy lifting he was planning to kill you as soon as he got the bow. As serana said your proved yourself to be strong so you are a threat wether you like it or not. You take out an underling if they become too powerful to protect your position no matter how loyal they are. The only reason why harkon has not gotten rid of vingalmo and his rival is that they spend majority of their time bickering with each other and plots to kill one another. The rest have no intrest in harkon's throne so you are the only threat lets not forget you are a second generation vampire.

What harkon did is standard overlord and underling rules.

In warhammer dark elves do what harkon does all the time.

I know! Right?

I was actually looking forward to a scene where if you try to hand over the bow, Serana tries to stop you. You both have an argument full of dialog options, and if you side with Harkon then he makes you kill Serana as a sacrifice to Molag Bal and as a pledge of loyalty to him. You then instead fight Serana who goes all Vampire Lord on you, and in the end Harkon makes you his right hand man. He gives you the bow to use as his champion, instructs you to bathe the bow in Serana's blood and permanently darken the sun. Then Harkon has a myriad of radiant quests specific to him.

I would have preferred this option along with the current ending, or at least something similar to it. I've been over the argument of how darkening the sun would destroy the world, how Harkon would have killed you, he was just making you do his dirty work, yada-yada-yada... It still would have been a great second option, or maybe even a third option if they could take it that deep.

Even if you had the option to fight Serana at the end and then Harkon could turn on you since you would be weakened by the fight with Serana and he wouldn't have to face the both you together.

I don't think we would see Beth. make this happen in our life times but.

That's the glorious thing about having complete creative control of your project.

If Bethesda wanted to, they could have done something akin to what I mentioned. Obviously they didn't, and by-and-large I'm cool with that. I still love the DLC :D .
-But- ...they could have.

It was a great opportunity missed imo.

What I want to know is, what's in that Chest in the room where you fight Harkon?
I didn't get anything in there, and wasn't sure if anyone else got the same.

For me it has the blood chalice in it...while the blood chalice was still on the table in the dining hall for use...when I dropped it, it floated and I picked it up, I just stored it in Breezehome as a trophy.

Beth could've done a lot things differently IMO. Yeah we can come to a logical conclusion as to why both questlines are the same but still beth could've done something differently for the questlines.

From what I hear, blotting out the sun WAS going to be permanent, but it caused major performance issues.

Isn't that the same reason why vampires can't use the face-changer?

Considering how many bugs female vampires have with their vampire face for example having glowing versions of the old vampire eyes I think thats why vampires cannot use the face changer.

Even if you use the showracemenu to change your look as a vampire you cannot change your makeup or lipstick plus you cannot choose between the old eyes or the new ones.

I know i can blot out the sun but just for one day, which svcks.

Ending with vamps could be so much better if Harkon would have been fair and i really want that, continue to work with him, realize the prophecy with him and destroy all Skyrim, all towns etc... it could have been great... so why they didn't do that ? Technical issues ? Lack of time ?

The fact Harkon is a coward... i see that like an easy shortcut to avoid to make a better ending, much more complex to do for Beth, no doubt.

I'm really disappointed with this ending so... thankfully, the main quest is good.

Yeah, it doesn't last as long as we'd like, but it's really not so bad.

I mean, by the time I got Auriel's Bow, I had something like 1500 Elven Arrows in my inventory just from visiting shops around Skyrim and from loot. I had another 800 or so at my house in Whiterun.

So getting 2300 Blood Cursed arrows took me all of five minutes...

That's 2300 straight days of no sun and the general public of Skyrim freaking out on a daily basis.

...

I can handle that.

Hestla sells sets of 200 elven arrows once the questline is over, and Serana is easily accessible when either meandering around the castle or following you. So I don't see how it only lasting, at maximum, from 5 AM to 8 PM "svcks".

Most of Bethesda's questlines don't allow you to end up serving anyone - all guildmasters and faction leaders must die (however unnecessarily), leaving you the number one head honcho just to show off how powerful you are. Harkon is merely going the way of Astrid, Savos, Mirabelle, Kodlak and Mercer (Isran somehow escaped that fate). The only faction where this is an exception (other than the Dawnguard and the insignificant Bard's College) is the one faction where I wanted to personally murder the two dragon-hating bigots up there, but sadly they remain essential even after the MQ finishes.
