Enjoyable character to watch videos of

Post » Sun Aug 12, 2012 1:13 am

So, I am looking to start a YouTube video series which will detail a character's adventures through Skyrim in an episodic format and utilise actual gameplay, coupled with short animations, music from permitting artists and a diary-like narration. Whilst I have yet to arrange a means of capturing footage from my Xbox 360 nor proper editing software (any advice on those two matters would be greatly appreciated), one thing I have to do properly is my character. In order for this series to work, I have to create a realistic role-play and this begins with a good character build coupled with a good backstory. Could anyone make some suggestions for a good character that would prove enjoyable to watch? He must be a guy, else it won't work due to voice acting, and I'm also not going to make him Dragonborn (as I don't want this series to spoil any of the main storyline besides the intro).

Nobody have ideas? I want a character who has a good backstory and whose combat would be fun to watch, so probably no stealth.

I was thinking of a Bosmer ranger, but worry that might be boring. I want a diverse build that will offer enjoyable combat to watch (not just me hiding behind walls for hours and sneaking) but also one which will be open to complete most of the different faction quests. Any ideas?

I'm using the avermedia game capture HD - you can make 720p youtube videos with it. I just use the youtube editing tools to stitch clips together - nothing too fancy atm.

As for characters, you can't go wrong with an NPC. http://www.truancyfactory.com/mods/skyrim/skyrim_characters.html

People are interested to see what they get up to when 'off-quest' :)

Nice idea, but I want this to be a unique guy who I can build as a character and not be limited by already written lore. Plus, if I play as a certain character, it then prevents me from interacting with that character later on in the game. Still, thanks, anyway.

An pure magic swordsman is pretty interesting. It's what my Dunmer is doing at the moment, and it's awesome! Bound sword in the right hand, and whatever else in your left. He doesn't sneak (I was surprised to say the least!) or deal with undead, save redeading them. But you can do whatever you want, it's a VERY versatile build. But it is, in effect (I suppose) just a pure mage.

It is, effectively, just a pure mage. I would do that build, had I already not spent so many hours with it prior to deciding about this series. So, I want a character build I haven't done. I haven't played as the Bosmer, Khajiit, Argonians or Dunmer yet...

Any ideas besides the above? I also need an interesting backstory. Whilst I normally make one up myself, I want this character to be really good as I am aiming to create a "movie" like viewing experience. The character has to be perfect - a realistic backstory and relatable personality are a must.
