Entering Multiplayer-Mode overwrites autoexec.cfg

Post » Thu Sep 16, 2010 8:24 pm

Hey

I've got a problem. I've spent hours with tweaking my autoexec.cfg file so the game stops looking so blurry. I've finally made it. It works well in singleplayer-mode.

The problem is:
As soon as i enter the multiplayer-mode, the game overwrites my nice autoexec.cft and Crysis looks crappy and blurry again. Even if I go back to singleplayer afterwards, the game still looks ugly again.
So entering the multiplayer-mode makes the game ignore my autoexec.cfg.

Note:
The game doesn't overwrite all the settings I've made. For example the FOV and toggle-crouch settings still work in multiplayer.

Have I made any illegal changes? There are hundreds of cheaters out there on the Crysis 2 servers, why should the game overwrite my graphics? (Of course I don't try to cheat with my autoexec.cfg)

I assume it's the MSAA and the post processing command that get overwritten, because they make the game look blurry. But why? Is there any solution to prevent them from being overwritten. My autoexec.cfg is set to read-only and the singleplayer looks nice again after a game-restart.

Up!
Nobody has an idea? Tiping in "sys_spec_postprocessing=0" in the console doesn't work - unknown command.

The answer is pretty simple:

When you enter multiplayer mode the game re-reads the graphics option from the game setup.

ergo:

sys_spec_* options in your autoexec.cfg will work under SP, the graphics option will work under multiplayer.
Every other autoexec.cfg option that is NOT sys_spec_* will work in multiplayer!

If i got you right, I would have to change the graphics option directly to solve my problem? So the game would re-read my modified graphics-option file and everything is fine.

How can I do that? Where is the graphics option directory?

Or can i simply deactivate this re-read? So the graphics keep the same as in singleplayer? Or let the game read the autoexec istead of the graphics directory?

Lol...
What cheat protection? There are hundreds of cheaters out there and Crytek is blocking my attempt to turn of antialiasing? That's no cheat! That's just making Crysis 2 look like a PC game and not like a console-port. I could turn it off by setting the graphics options to low. But then everything looks ugly. That's not cheating either. I just want to set a part of the graphics options to low. Not all at once.

Try setting the autoexec to read-only.

Are you guys kidding me? Please read my post. Someone told me that before. I did set it to read-only. Look one post above yours.

If you used a config for graphics with a program, it only WORKS with single player. Multiplayer is locked for a reason. I too hate the idea of BLOOM and HDR levels but i think it was fixed by Crytek but i'll have to visit Skyline and see if they did something to their servers.

It could be just my eyes lol.

I will find a way to help players play with ease if we can lower the hdr and bloom. I wish i knew how to help color blinded people too. I hear they have problems in this game especially when using nanovision.

Maybe they will add some additional graphics-settings with the next patch. So we could change the HDR, Bloom, and so on for multiplayer in the ingame options... Seems to be the only option.
