error installing game

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 11:13 pm

(The description in the title of the post says 37MB free space, should be 37GB)

I am receiving an error message when installing the game:

'There is not enough available space in the HDD'

When I look at the system information it tells me I have 37GB of free space.
I've got no videos, pictures etc on my ps3. I have a few saved game data, about 3-4 GB worth which is about right according to the free space I should have.
I've deleted a few saved game data slots, tried rebooting, deleted the version 2.0 update and tried re-installing but keep getting this error message.
Anyone else had this?
Anyone know how to remedy this?

How big is your HDD? I know the PS3 reserves something like 10% of the space for itself. Also, is that anything you feel you can delete right now to free up space? At the top of "Game" in the XMB check "Game Data Utility". I had a bunch of stuff installed to the HDD that I didn't realize. Freeing up anything there might give you more room.

All this, however, doesn't help the fact that your systems says you have 37 free and the game only wants 5.5 to install, but it won't let you. Not sure what's going on there. For now though, maybe freeing up 45 or 50 could let you at least load it on and play. Deal with what's really going on later.

Seems odd. Have you tried deleting something that requires 5gb of space from your game utility folder. Just wondering if somehow the readout on available memory has something wrong with it.
