I am a huge fan of TES series, being that I only played Morrowind and Oblivion. I love open world RPG's and find that these games are among the best. There aren’t many that can compare. I’ve been looking forward to this game since the release of the teaser trailer, and my fantastic escapism feeling returned.
I work 2 jobs in a horrible economy, with a sick wife, in a small apartment with 3 dogs. The time I have to myself is extremely valuable to me, and if I am not exorcising my demons by going out (having a social life is so crucial to sanity), I play video games. The only games I tend to play are of the science fiction/fantasy nature, because I get enough visions of modern war (no pun intended) on the news/internet daily. In my time playing games I get to leave my reality for a bit, jump into a world that is new and wonderful and dangerous. With that being said, I find it very interesting that there are so many people that take this game (yes it's a game) so seriously.
You wouldn’t have bought it if you didn’t want to get away from your life for a while. You know you want to escape all the seriousness and stress of whatever situation you live in. It may be work, school, or some authority figure that you need to get away from. I love these games because it gives me a sense of fantasy, a sense of escape. I don’t care if the textures are popping in/out. I don’t care if the facial animations are not far advanced from Oblivion. I don’t care if you don’t like how the menus/map are set up. I don’t care if you are a PS3/360/PC f***boy! All of you sound like my grandmother at my wedding telling me how I shouldn’t have served chicken because "people don’t like chicken."
If all of you who are complaining take a game this serious than I fear for you in real life. Either you have none, or are too young to have felt the impact of the real world, and all the crap it brings. When I leave my day job today, I am stopping off at the store to get my reserved copy, dropping it off at my place, and going to my night job, where I will be working my a** off to try and get out early, so that I may escape, if only for a few hours, in the new world that these great people at Bethesda help create for all of us. I won’t care if there are few glitches. I do sincerely apologize to those having tech issues that are not allowing you to play this game, or for those with an SD TV, because it seems as those people truly have a gripe. I wish everybody the best of times in their fantasy world, as well as the real.
