It wouldn't be any slower then using a modifier on a PC. From experience, the fastest way to activate stuff is to not have to move your hands...the best PvPers know this and the importance of mapping. All my best combat abilities were 1-5, with LeftShift and LeftAlt as modifiers, secondary skills were F2-F6. Priority within that was set to 2 through 4. Buff skills were on the Q-T.

It might seem slow to you if you started using it now, but with any game, knowing how to manipulate the controls without moving your hands (which is what a controller provides) makes you that much faster.

Reposted for Editting.

Big question: Do you believe what Gstaff said about:

I personally, do not....at least, not entirely. Just the track record of it all. Could the game have been out late this year? Yes. Does pushing it back a few months give them a better opportunity to improve upon the PC version? Yes. Was the late 2013 set in stone and a sure thing BEFORE the console announcement? No. Games get pushed back all the time. SWToR was pushed back at least twice. Still exclusive from the consoles.

Gstaff isn't a Beth employee?

I know mods aren't, but the CM is? Who is what again? I really forgot.

I'm guessing some people don't like the idea of TESO coming to console?

That's an understatement to the degree of saying that a fish has a slight dependence on water.

It's a somewhat understandable rage. There was the pretext that the game would be out this year, though that was never guaranteed and MMO's get delayed all the time. There was the understanding that the game would not be coming out on the 360 and PS3 and it was taken beyond that it would not be out on console at all. There is the feeling that, like previous multiplatform titles, updates won't come as quickly as PC-only games which could a very real fear. The MMO's I've played got regular minor updates almost every week, large updates at least once a month, and don't forget the huge updates which usually was a result of additional content (mostly end-game area or extra PvP stuff that changed world spaces). Of course, with the understanding that PC could handle more updates, with little extra cost to the developer as opposed to the console, it of course could still get regular updates that we all know and love, and the consoles would get updates at larger intervals that are always huge (pretty much...PC would get 1.01, then 1.02, then 1.03....all the way through let's say 1.20. Then the console gets 1.20 as well, which included 1.01-1.20). That possibility is still VERY real.

It seems many people got it in their heads that this is going to completely change the games that they have been following for months

I love how they just screw all of their PC and Mac users by pushing the release back by six months just to port to consoles. Why don't they just release it for PC and Mac in late 2013 and release it for consoles in 2014? I don't want to spend my spring inside playing a game, thats what the winter is for.

Had the game come out at the end of this year, and it would be full of bugs, there would be so many complaints. They decided to postpone launch, and now people are giving them flack. Life will go on without ESO being released this year.

I am glad for the announcement, I had planned to get a PS4, and now I will play ESO on the PS4. My wife enjoys watching these type of games, but playing on a PC can be cumbersome for her to watch and be comfortable. I am also happy the mega servers will be separated, I do wish they had some connectivity to the PC, MAC and Xbox versions for the auction house.

Do you have a source for the claim that the console port is what pushed the release back?

Thanks for this schedule. I will probably only be able to see today's interview. I hope there are notes posted or these will be recorded by Zeni or the interviewing company.

Its pretty obvious. Sure, they will say that it wasn't because of the porting, but its just like when the community pressured them into adding real 1st person. They claimed that it was going to be there from the start, they will lie to try to look good. It's basic strategy.

You don't know that for sure. There is nothing proving it because they never promised a release date at any time and MMO's get pushed back often. Do you know how long it took to get a solid answer for a release date for SWToR from BW? A long time, after two huge delays, and pushed back over a year after their initial "estimate". It happens! This is nothing that proves that console porting is causing the delay. For all we know, they could be doing other stuff and hire some extras to do the porting and polishing (heh, car reference for anyone that caught it)

Thanks summer. Is there anyone else? What about admins? I know some Beth employees have profiles (like Todd).

A game this size will have bugs no matter what. Again, SWToR got pushed back a lot and guess what? Still had a lot of bugs. Same for Planetside 2. They get fixed though.

I really don't like the idea of having any connection to the other games unless it's there for a specific reason of interaction like Eve has with Dust 514. The fact that is the same game and all could just lead to abuse of it by players playing on multiple platforms. Nah, I think you either connect all the way, or not at all. Eve and Dust are a special thing because they're two seperate games, working in the same universe.

Lie. No one claimed it was going to be there from the start. And nothing personal, but people on these forums have been consistently wrong about nearly everything about this game since it's been announced. Forgive me if I don't jump on the hate train because of your (or anyone else's) naive intuition about release dates.

Plus, companies do make gaming controllers for PCs, and the modern consoles do support USB keyboards/mice. So long as the console ports support the mouse/keyboard if they're present (similar to how many PC games will support gaming controllers), control-scheme differences are a moot point.

I'm on the fence about this myself--On the one hand, it gives the content developers more time to work. All the better if the ports have their own teams for optimizing the code. On the bright side, the upcoming next-generation of consoles are closer to PCs in terms of hardware architecture than ever, so porting games between the three should be easier. On the other hand, the timing of the console announcements and the spring 2014 release were so close together that even if there isn't a causal relationship, it would be nearly impossible to separate the two in the minds of those who see them as directly related.

Not really..it seems to already have all the mechanics down..aoe healing only, no real raiding, six buttons. It was already perfect for a console..they may have just not told us.

I can see a 2013 release for either PS4 or Xbone and the PC/Mac users having to wait till 2014 due to a timed exclusive. Why trust anything they say now seeing they went back on their word about it being made for the PC and MAC only

:nono: Don't call developers liars. Moderators consider that flaming. Go back and read our rule about flaming in the first post of this thread. See where it says "whether it be developers?"

Just don't. m'kay
