So ESO is mostly a PVE Grinding game?

Post » Wed Dec 11, 2013 12:45 pm

Good morning,

I played some Skyrim and a little bit of Oblivion, and just heard about this game after seeing that new PS4 commercial, (You just keep me hangin' on). And did a look on Zenimax's website and had a couple of quick questions.

I heard that you are locked by area in the Skyrim world, so as I understand it, we can't explore it all until level 50? So I guess the focus is on getting there so you can actually play the game in full?

I've seen videos about character creation, and leveling, so it is focused on grinding? I read about that there is some kind of PvP feature, but it doesn't seem to be a focus. Kind of like a little side area for it? I was really hoping that they would have some kind of PvP focus, but I have only seen a very small clip of the combat, so I guess it's not a main feature? Sort of like a skirmish you can join in?

But mostly just friendly PvE until you cap out, and then exploration?

Doesn't sound like you looked into it very much...or could be you didn't know where to look. I can help with that.

But basically you can jump into PvP if you want starting at level 10. The whole point of pvp is to crown someone emperor of Cyrodiil. You're trying to overthrow the Tharns who are incahoots with Mannimarco, the King of Worms, who's incahoots with Molag Bal, the Daedric Prince who is trying to pull all of Tamriel into his plane of Oblivion, Coldharbour.

I'd recommend reading through Tamriel Foundry's website: http://tamrielfoundry.com/development-faq/

you play the game while leveling, you dont have to rush to the the end just to entertain yourself.

Oh sweet thanks guys!

Reading more on the foundry it seems like PvP is going to be the center piece to the whole game.

Very cool!

So why have they not released any videos showing off this center piece?

I heard there was a Beta, has anyone had a chance to play the PvP? Or have they just not released any videos because it isn't done yet?

They've done a few things on it. You might want to read through here: http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/ There are several Ask Us Anything sections that discuss the PvP aspect of the game.

But don't worry about the PvE side of things. There will be plenty of stuff to do outside of cyrodiil as well. And http://www.gamereactor.eu/articles/101784/The%20Elder%20Scrolls%20Online:%20Creative%20Director%20Interview/ recently confirmed that Adventure Zones (ESO's equivalent of Raids) will be in at launch.

I like to think their main focus is fun through immersion.... At least, I hope it is.

In my opinion I'd say its actually a lot more focused on the PvP as a form of endgame than PvE. Just what we've seen so far, though. Maybe once more info about AZs come out it'll go more 50/50.

Yeah, currently I see PvP being their baby, but they still have put a lot of work into PvE though. Still a few things about PvE that hasn't been fully fleshed out yet and told to us (Adventure Zones).

Those who have played the PvP cannot talk to you about it, as there is an NDA in place. They have released several videos of combat in action, but none against other players yet. As you say, I guess they don't yet feel it's ready.

Funny you should mention this, but they JUST posted a thing on their facebook about an upcoming PvP trailer they're putting out soon that shows PvP off to the masses finally.
