1.7, or to give it its true name, 1.6 still hasn't released in Europe some three months after it was announced, the timeline of neglect can be seen below:
May 24th - GStaff officially announces patch 1.6 for all platforms.
June 8th - 1.6 launches for Xbox 360, the PS3 patch is strangely absent, no explanation is given.
July 23rd - GStaff finally reveals that 1.6 won't be coming to PS3 and will instead be rolled into 1.7 to release "soon"
July 30th - GStaff announces that the 1.7 will go to cert by the end of the week
Aug 7th - GStaff announces that the 1.7 patch will launch in US that week with Europe to follow the next week
Aug 9th - 1.7 releases in US, Europe wait patiently to the following week
Aug 15th - GStaff posts in a thread that 1.7 won't be coming to Europe that week
Aug 22nd - GStaff posts in another thread that 1.7 won't be coming that week either.
Three calendar months and not only do we not have the patch, but we don't have information regarding its release. Three months and there's been zero progress aside from a few one liners of thinly veiled contempt from GStaff.
As Thunder has pointed out, the 1.6 and 1.7 patches released on PC on their days of announcement as "betas" but despite many issues being reported, including performance issues and increased crashing to desktop in 1.7, the patches remained unchanged between beta release and full release. While not immediately relevant to the PS3 situation, this is still important information as it means 1.6 technically released for PC three months ago today and PS3 Europe is still waiting for a firm date let alone the patch itself.
Occam's Razor: all things being equal, a simpler explanation is better than a more complex one - Patch 1.6/7 failed certification with Sony, find me a simpler explanation. I for one am going to cease speaking about this as speculation and treat it as fact as there is no other plausible reason for the delay.
I'll update the timeline with any further developments as they happen, until then continue the discussion.
