Everyone should be vampires

No point not to. Same with blocking out the sun. Feeding only makes you weaker. I liked it in Oblivion were you burst into flames, or when people actually attacked you. There are no drawbacks to becoming one besides the fact that you cant be a werewolf and a VL at the same time. Bethesda you screwed up.

Your magicka and stamina (and health) don't regenerate in the daytime (that's why I choose to be a werewolf).

Which is negated by enchantments and certain perks.

They nerfed that though. Not that I'm complaining. I still want my stage 4 hostiliy back though.

My power hungry Altmer mage thought that being a vampire would bring him closer to ultimate power, but all it did to him was turn him into a slave of the night. Traveling at night, sleeping through the day, always having to feed to keep from progressing toward stage 4...and those damn eyes. He couldn't cure himself quick enough. Only problem is that the cure was just as underwhelming as the disease. He will stick with serving the Daedra instead,

No drawbacks? Unless you have perks/enchants to offset it, the stat regen nerf can make extended daylight trips a lot hairier. Of course if you played from at least Morrowind you'd be able to cope with this. Nevertheless it's not like there's NO drawback, the sunlight can take it out of you.

Not saying it's the right or wrong decision, just throwing in my experience as a vamp in this game. *shrug*

Three things:

1. Harkon mentions it in the Dawnguard quest itself. To paraphrase here after you tell him your a werewolf
Spoiler
"Mmm, yes, I could smell it. Doesn't matter, my vampire blood will be able to remove it and turn you into uber vampire."
.
He's essentially say the two diseases can not mix and one will push out the other.

2. Werecreatures can't get diseases.

3. Remember that lycanthropy and vampirism are Daedric/Divine blessings and curses. Hircine calls his werecreatures his loyal subjects. Meaning that once someone turns into a lycanthrope, they are bound to Hircine. He wouldn't want his subjects joining Molag Bal and his vampires. And Molag wouldn't want werewolves among his blessed vampires.

Lack of stat regen is EXTREMELY annoying. No spells after using all magicka, no power attacks after all stamina and no sprinting means you get caught easy. No health regen means you walk around with the possibility of being one-shotted. Add in the fire weakness (strong enough that my level 20ish VL can be two shotted by flame mages and has to abuse grip to deal with them.)

In short, the daylight svcks. Although, I think they should've also made it impossible to wait in the sunlight. That would've made it an absolute drawback that forced you to sit indoors.

The light armor perk wind walker still allows you to regenerate stamina as long as your wearing light armor. And the recovery perks in the restoration tree still let you regenerate magicka. And yes enchantments still allow you regenerate in the sun. The lady stone also still works.

he makes a valid point... Vampirism/Lycanthropy is a disease and should have been treated as such. Yeah, they should both have their benefits, but their downsides should be equally balanced out to the same degree. To become a vampire/werewolf should be a well thought out choice, not an added bonus w/ no defects.

Are you sure Restoration perks affect magicka regen like that? Last I checked, they still just add a percentage to regen, which is a percentage of zero if you're a vampire in the sun.

And yes, it's a lore thing. Volkihar vampires have always been described as weakened by the sun, but not hurt by it.

My level 81 dark elf with over 700 magicka should do just fine as a VL. My level 65 Nord Werewolf with over 500 health, however, should be a thorn on the vampires gimpy wings. Too bad I can't load both profiles and pit them against each other...
