[REQ] Evil companions.

Post » Mon Dec 06, 2010 9:01 am

There is a serious lack of good evil companions even more so if you like to RP and hate things that don't make sense.

The ghoul in the Old Mormon Fort.. beatrice I think is her name
and
the powder ganger body guard who I think was named scrambler or something similiar.

Pleaseee!

A legion badass would be good too. From the looks of it, just about every (human) companion will up and leave you if you decide to go the Legion route. You're left with a dog, a robot, and a senile nightkin.

Last I looked on the Nexus there was a Legion recruit with the basic commands and I believe the modder said he would take it further.

The game seems overall favoured towards 'good' players. I actually almost find it hard to be evil, first off almost everytime you kill a hostile you gain karma.

Second there's not enough 'evil' things to do and the 'evil' routes for quests all seem to be kind of "Heh I can kill people.". There isn't any reason for your character to be evil (add hated be everyone) other than because you can be. Remember Fallout 3 blowing up Megaton gave you a HUGE caps boost early in the game, it made being evil a real temptation. That's what's missing from the karma system in this game.

There's a quest concerning threee Fiends -no spoilers here-

I thought they would make great 'evil' companions.

And that chick from the Thorn -the leader, she seemed like an evil slitch if ever I met one inna game....

I initially wanted to play an evil character... after wiping out some of the powder gangers and seeing how Karma works I gave up and went with a good playthrough (even had to change my character's hairstle to something less... spiky). I'll wait for some Karma rebalance mods. I don't know too much about being evil because I gave it up on this playthrough but I noticed there's an emphasis on good deeds though. Maybe it's because I'm with the NCR, I don't know.

I recall that Fallout 2 was also like this.

The idea I took from that was, normal people are not psycho and antisocial and, if someone's character is a [censored], people don't like him, and he has fewer friends.

One of the tweaks I noticed that Obsidian did was that stolen items can't be sold in the same region that they were stolen in.

I found this out early on after emptying out Goodsprings -I was playing a thief character, and had to haul everything to Primm -slow march through the wasteland at one in the morning, before it would show up in my inventory as a sellable item. :hehe:

Nice touch, makes me work harder at fencing the loot :goodjob:
which of course makes everything that much harder :banghead:

:P

My PSD is acting up again :ahhh:

yeah... the game definitely needs at least 1 evil companion, like someone from the Legion. But IMO... if it's not a fleshed out character with actual spoken dialogue and an interesting personality and motivations, then I'm not interested.

I agree. An official DLC that added a new companion or two would be great.

I think there need to be companions in the game that let you do whatever you want and stay loyal. Whether that's being evil or whatever. Boone pissed me off something fierce. I wasn't happy that I couldn't negotiate when I'm playing a high CH/speech character to get him to see my way of thinking (My current character is not evil or anything but I might want to do something a follower doesn't like). It's still not really clear why some of them come with me either. They don't have much reason to be loyal to my character based on their lukewarm reasons for following me around.

Before NV came out I had decided I was going to build a new companion for it. I'm working on her now and my experience with the vanilla companions has influenced the direction this new follower (Willow) is going in and her story (and quests); she is a completely neutral companion and won't care what you do in the game and has no faction involvement. She will only care about your relationship with her. I have a lot of work to do on her yet, though, so I don't know when I'll be releasing her. She'll be fully voiced (new acting; not copy/pasted from voice files), chatty along the lines of Cass, and possibly chat to other companions (I did this in FO3 with a companion there) and will do more things than the vanillas do. I'm working on her steadily but don't know when it will be completed to my satisfaction.

My two favorite companions were the modded Sydney one (best companion mod IMO) and your Charron so I'm looking forward to meeting her, llamaRCA :)

Thanks! It's fun creating an entirely new character. There's a lot more freedom in that and having the ability to create any dialogue I can dream up is a great feeling.

Ooo you did Sydney. I loved that Mod!!!
So far I don't feel like the game is geared toward good only. I think they throw in plenty of grey area. But I'm not playing a psycho either more of the carefully calculated evil type. My next toon with either be a loyal NCR citizen or a psycho though.

I still like the idea of Beatrice or Scrambler(sp) They were not so fleshed out that they couldn't be expanded on creatively. If anyone needs voice acting I can try my hand at it. I am female and can do a range of vocals even males(though all my males seem to have a Boston accent..hmm)

No, DRG6520 did Sydney. She is very good and definitely the most fleshed out follower in FO3.

There aren't any "evil" followers. None of them are all out good either but every single one of them swings towards a generally socially acceptable level of niceness. None of them seem like the kind of people who would just go along with it if you started shooting random passers by or robbed a starving man. Which I assume is peoples problem and why this mod has been requested, it just doesn't make sense for any of the followers except Ed-e and the dog to stick around if you are evil.

What's evil about Beatrice?

She mentions quite a few thingss the people at the Old Mormon Fort won't let her do, the kink not included, she still sounds a little bloodthirsty.

My current character has very good karma, but I don't see her as good. I roleplay, she does help people, but only if they can pay, and only as long as a better paying oppurtunity doesn't present itself along the way. I play a character that's selfish and does anything to get her way, I still have good karma even if I steal whenever I need to, kill people and trick people into risking their necks so I don't have to.

Karma is a completely arbitrary way to define a character.

Actually I found why evil/neutral karma seems hard to get. If you look at the settings in the GECK killing an evil actor awards you 100 Karma, where as Killing a VERY evil actor gives you a WHOPPING....... .......2 Karma. -_- Needless to say in my personal tweak mod I've fixed this.
