Exactly what makes a perfect game for YOU?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 6:45 am

I can guess you are one of two possible people reading this right now. You are:

1) "There is no perfect game!"

or

2) "ZOMG Skyrim is awesome!"

Well, I am not asking what game is perfect, but rather what game is perfect for you in terms of aspects of the game?

What does a game have to have that would make it your all-time, number one, top of the list? What does it have to take to, if any, dismantle your current #1? What is your "dream" game?

I see what you mean, like realistic lifelike graphics and gameplay, immersive/realism to the max!

Well music is very important. If the music is amazing I can overlook almost any flaw and immensely enjoy the game. So a perfect game, for me, would have an excellent score. This is probably the most important factor when I play a video game. The very first time I ever played Morrowind and loaded up the menu screen I got chills just from hearing the theme.

I refuse to talk to ponies. Lol, just kidding...I suppose a game that creates a very believable alternate reality in a previous time period (e.g. a game in feudal Japan or at the fall of Rome).

A perfect game for me would be a game like Skyrim. But with the writing and dialogue choices of New Vegas as well as the interesting characters, quests, weapons/armor, consequences, tribes and multiple outcomes based on the decisions I make. Or just New Vegas with polished graphics and zero bugs. :)

But New Vegas is [censored] awesome anyways.

A game where when you finish it, there's something after the end.

I think there are a couple of words there that don't mean what you think they mean. :P

A never ending game.
No, not really. I meant something like Oblivion or Portal 2 (with the authoring tools).

Oh, and mods. Games with a released tool kit increases game time played x9001 hours for me.

Nothing, because in order for a game, for me, to be perfect, it needs to fulfill certain standards which at the moment are more or less impossible.

A perfect game is impossible for me, mostly because I like all different genres of games, and a single game that attempted to include all of these genres at once would be a disaster.

I could try to come up with the perfect RPG, the perfect FPS, the perfect fighting game, the perfect MMO, the perfect platformer, etc etc, but I don't have the time or the patience.

Perfection is impossible to achieve, however a few have come close. I am not even gonna bother naming them, Y'all should know by now!

I Shall say what makes a dream game for me though- Deep, highly interactive, challenging & rewarding gameplay mechanics, Deep and consistent story that makes you think, consistent game world in all possible ways (lore, level design etc), no repetition, deep immersive design- so none or minimal hand holding+ other things, playstyle freedom, Real time combat, music that really adds soul to the game and no bull like invisible walls at all (Bioware, you fail on so many levels!)

Like a good relationship, I want a game that excites me with flashy visuals in the beginning, piques my interest through the nights with intense action, but still offers intelligent company as we grow old together.

Also one that doesn't expect me to phone up all the time, and doesn't mind if I play around. :hehe:

For me, choice and consiquence. I have played the same style character in Alpha protocol around 7 times... Just tweaking it, I still found new things. Like
Spoiler
Having Brayko torture, Sergai for my amusemant.
Fallout new vegas was pretty great with options too. Like with dead money, where you can
Spoiler
Side with Elijah. Sure it ends the game (logical), but it was great as an option.

My ideal game, would be a hybrid of Alpha protocol and New vegas.

Play Deus ex then. Your dreams will come true, if your not a graphics ho anyway.

I doubt DE has the same level of C+C and freedom as Alpha protocol.

Is it too much to ask for both?

I don't expect every game to be some buxom bimbo (although that's all they seem to sell these days.) I like a good, handsome game, with a nice friendly UI and a cunning way with words.

... what were we talking about again?

The only game with both IMO is fallout NV.

Your kidding around right? It has more. more everything, except graphics.
In fact alot of what is in AP was taken from DX, only in dx there is more and it is executed better.
Fallout 3 & NV also took alot from DX. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/06/30/dark-futures-part-2-emil-pagliarulo/
DX wasnt repeatedly hailed the greatest PC game of all time fer nuthin!
