Excited to get Dawnguard on PS3? There's a point that needs

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 4:55 pm

So, with Dawnguard releasing in a few hours for the folks on 360 it's a super exciting time to be a Skyrim fan. I can't wait to go bombing around on horseback with a crossbow myself. Now, I'm on PS3. I hear a lot of talk about how the DLC is a timed exclusive and whatnot. For me, that's no big deal. Mostly because I'm on a super limited budget and I can't afford it right now. For at least the first thirty days only those on Microsoft's White and Green Machine will be able to take down Hakon.

At least the first thirty days.

Dawnguard's mostly likely not going to release a month from now. When you consider that we don't have the latest patch, it's clear that Bethesda's a little behind on the playstation. That's not to bash the company. I've always heard the programming architecture for the PS3 is very complicated compared to the other big two consoles. I doubt we're going to get Dawnguard before we get that. At most? It'll be released at the same time.

Beyond that, previous DLC for Bethesda games on the PS3 has not been reliable released thirty days after the fact. When you look at New Vegas, Dead Money was released to the 360 on December 21st , 2010 and didn't see release on PS3 until Febuary 22nd of 2011. That's about two months. Beyond this, I think it's very telling that if you look at some of the staffers twitters they've repeatedly said they haven't announced a time for other platforms. That tells me that it's probably not going to be right after the microsoft exclusivity goes away.

So let's wait. Let's be patient and let's not log back on here a month from now angrily wondering where Dawnguard is. The idea that it'll be released a month from now on the dot is an idea that's come up in the community, but was never confirmed by anyone. I keep seeing it repeated as though it's a sure thing at this point and there's no reason to expect it to be, while there's at least a few admittedly vague reasons not to. It's more Skyrim and if you've been spending hours skulking through caves, cresting hills on your horse and committing dragon genocide you know it's going to be worth the wait.

Enjoy your DLC tomorrow Xbox'ers! I'll be eagerly anticipating joining you.

There is no way

Dawnguard is going to be so spoiled for me by the time we actually get it on PC, I don't have that kind of self control by any means.

Although I do love Skyrim I doubt I will ever buy another Elder Scrolls Game. I literally feel cheated and less of a valued customer due to Bethesda's treatment of it's PS3 fans. It is quite clearly evident that no testing was done on the Ps3 version of the game as there is no way that game breaking lag could have made it past testing. Not only that, the graphics and overall quality of Skyrim are lower than that of it's counter parts.

If Dawnguard is not released by early august at the latest for PS3, I'm gone and Bethesda has lost a customer, I know that sounds drastic and petty, but I won't pay a cent more to a company that obviously cares little about me and will continue to pander to it's xbox crowd. I literally feel like I don't matter in bethesdas eyes, like I'm a second class citizen to Xbox players.

Should probably put a disclaimer and say I have no gripe with Xbox players, I just have a gripe with Bethesda's obvious favoritism. It's horrible business practice and I would never recommend a Bethesda title to a PS3 player.

I actually just found out in a thread on here not too long ago that it's only being released fo the Xbox right now. I was pretty shocked. Although I play on the Xbox I was still shocked because it's almost unfair. It's unfair that we're all getting pumped for the release but yet the PS3 and PC players have to wait at least 30 days. They pretty much have to hide from the forums if they don't want to read spoilers and have their Dawnguard experience virtually ruined.

Apparently Microsoft paid Bethesda money to get the first two DLC exclusively for a period of time. I can understand the interest Bethesda had in the offer but we all know they will make enough money from all the sales, plus all the money they made from Skyrim sales. It seems like customer satisfaction would mean a bit more than the money Microsoft offered up. Especially since Bethesda basically owes us all (including PS3 and PC players) one for putting up and suffering through all the problems, bugs and game-breaking glitches.

I don't think timed DLC is a bad business practice. I'm not crazy about exclusive DLC, but timed stuff still gets to us all in the end. My experience isn't changed any by the fact other people played it first.

Not really. Two different platforms. If there's a bug on the 360 version, that doesn't necessarily mean the same bug is on PS3 or PC. If that was the case, the PS3 version wouldn't have been broken while the 360 version was good.

I know i liked both but others have their own opionions, idk i know the exclusive isn't really fair but its just bueissness [however people spell it] and im sure if there was a easy solution to fix the problem im sure they would've found it by now.

Do you people like dlc's and future titles by bethesda? Well guess what, the money microsoft paid helps fund all of this stuff. Its called business, blame sony if you're looking.

Thanks Gossi. There's a lot of hot headed individuals on the board, I'm hoping to be a little quieter.

All PS3 users are saying they get treated badly...

Their PSN gets hacked...

They cant play Halo...

And now you have to wait a gut wrenching extra 30 days to play skyrim...

What more does it take for you to want to buy a 360!?

why has this thread once again turned into a PS3 cry fest, yes there are faults with the PS3 version why dont you give them time to actually sort it just like the author of this thread said PS3 is more complicated to patch than the 360 and PC seen as though the game was developed for the 360 and PC.

and as for the exclusive DLC we get it before PS3 but so what PS3 get other DLC for other games before us, Assassins creed 3 Ubisoft have said PS3 are getting extra missions that the 360 might not see, it wont interfere with the storyline so im not particulary bothered. Each Console has both good and bad points and different game companies are going to favour one over the other and seen as though ive been playing TES since Morrowind i already knew Skyrim (just like oblivion) would have problem when released but eventually they will sort it. The problem being they mass advertised skyrim brought in people from outside the TES world and these are the people whining about things not working and things being bugged and that they will leave and never buy another game, personally i say leave because TES is an amazing series made by an awesome company and your the guys who are going to miss out.

My point being just stick to the topic :P now lets discuss DawnGuard :P

See your another person 'Their PSN gets hacked' so what, thats got nothing to do with 360 players thats an invalid statement. 'They can play Halo' Who cares its an xbox exclusive we cant play Uncharted thats just how it is, its not that they're being treated unfairly its what happens its up to the developers which console they want to release onto.

there needs to be another point be made there is a high possibility that the dlc will not even be playable on ps3 if you have played the Fallout 3 dlc's you will know they lagged and froze like crazy now before 1.4 skyrim lagged and froze like crazy and it still does I'm predicting that dawnguard will be a mess ps3 heck the Pitt was so bad they had to take it down from psn for a week or so

Bestheda and Microsoft have been in a business relationship since the original Xbox so it was not just money. It was the combined pressure of money and that relationship weighing down on them to make this choice. Sony relationship has yet to get as far, and for the pc users well its more Microsoft who's crapped on you.
