Well, now we know there is a Metro-esque system in the game. Thank God it isnt mandatory.

I think enough of us complained about 'mandatory' mini-games that we shied away from the idea of forcing the player to play them.

No gambling based missions. Thank you, sweet Jesus.

I'm terrible at gambling. I barely even know the rules of Blackjack. Just going to stick to roulette and slots, thank you.

It's actually one of the easier card games, it's very fun if you learn it. Just go on youtube and they can explain for you :)

Not a lot of new stuff IMO.
Most if not all of it I knew from before.
So it's good for people who didn't know these things but overall there was nothing new.

Good for people who don't know much about the game. However, if you spend hours on here every day like me, you tend to know new stuff right away.

Which is why I stated it was best for newbies. Too bad there was nothing new :sadvaultboy:

I read this and noticed the question about a Multiplayer/Online component being in New Vegas, I don't understand what the obsession is now-a-days that absolutely every game must have a Multiplayer online aspect, honestly what happened to a good ol' game I could enjoy by myself and not have to deal with d-bags online?

Frankly its really annoying, some games should be single-player experiences experienced by one person.

"Are gambling activities like Poker or Blackjack just mini-games, or will they sometimes play important roles in missions or game progress? Will lockpicking return?"

"I think enough of us complained about 'mandatory' mini-games that we shied away from the idea of forcing the player to play them. There's more to be won at the tables than just caps, though! Lock picking will definitely return in Fallout: New Vegas."

I hope that "There's more to be won at the tables than just caps" means we can gamble items and maybe win favours. Or they could just be talking about the different curreny.

Perhaps I should give it a shot.

Anybody know of a decent freeware blackjack game/sim I can download anywhere? Probably wouldn't hurt to practice.

Why did they do the same thing Fallout 3 did with ending the game and not letting you continue. I guess you die at the end here too until future DLC.

Bad decision on their part.

And I'm also disappointed there is no weather cycle. I would've liked it to rain here and there. Maybe next time...

I'm thinking some sort of mine system. I'm also thinking that finding a source of gold or silver could be a possible quest. Since we know that the NCR's gold reserves are all but gone, it's the perfect kind of quest to help them out.

But they said a bit about the new underground system.

Or is that new news to me?

I hope it's these tunnels with a shanty town of sorts inside (hopefully).

Is it really that big of a deal though?

I'm fine with it either way but is it really that hard to just load up the before final mission save and finish whatever you wanted to finish? Unless the final quests give out some awesome armor and weapons, I don't really understand the outrage.

I hope so. Being a prospector would be very interesting :D . Especially considering that we haven't seen any gold in the Falloutverse so far (AFAIR at least) , despite being told that it exists.

While I hope beyond hope that they'll add weather effects (hopefully something like PD is doing with GT5) I don't feel it would make much difference in FONV. Reason being it rarely rains here in Vegas.

NCR Dollars were backed by gold.

Spoiler
But the BoS have destroyed the gold and it is now backed by water instead. I think this is one of the reasons NCR is on a precarious footing in New Vegas.

First actual preview I have read.

I for one, thank the gods that you are not forced down into the metro tunnels. I truly hated that part of FO3. You were forced to go crawling through those things at least once, which I did not like. Not a fan of dark, underground places with zombie-esque things that take many shots to kill. No, not at all.

The Metro tunnels were some of my favorite things in fallout 3.
