I posted this as a reply in another thread, but it struck me that I would like to hear what others think of the idea:


I wish you could take a certain design of weapon and make from any material you wanted. For example, the design of the steel greatsword as it is now, only make it with ebony, glass, orichalcum, etc. I like the steel greatsword design and think made with ebony would look outstanding. I also like the design of the ebony blades, but think they would look better made of refined malachite. The orc blades would look great made from steel, you get the picture. Just my opinion, but would be cool!! The same would be cool for the armor styles.

I am not a dev, but it would seem that this would be a great smithing perk/mod when the next dlc comes out.

If you play on PC, there's a mod for exactly that: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2933 Currently only for weapons, but the amors are in the next update.

Would love to see it implemented, but Beth is never going to do it. It is a great idea though, it would give us so many more options. This game needs more customization.

I am on a 360 also, I would like to see Beth develop this across the board.

Mods are great, but I'd be happy with a few upgrades from Beth.
