Expecting some Nvidea drivers soon ?

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 10:40 pm

Hello once again i can play the game but it simply crashes all the time texture popping/streaming isnt the mjor problem the crashes are
I already reinstalled the game, clean installed my drivers from 280.26- the latest beta driver available 285.38 and tried a couple of configs but with each combination the crashes are still permanent.
on other suggestions i tried removing one monitor same problem ending up crashing in the middle of the game, enabling settings in nvidea control panel explicit for rage also didnt do anything ( crashes )
as you mentioned there will be drivers released -since i see ATI getting fixes i wonder when will we finally see a Nvidea driver update.
The game will be great once the crashes are fixed but the current situation is horrible.
Im running a Nvidea geforce 560GTX phantom with 1 gig DDR5 and the game when it works looks great besides the mentioned texture pops but its crashing and crashing
system specs windows 7Ux64

No im not forcing any settings in control panel what i did was a clean driver installation safe mode sweeper and a fresh install ( did that with all drivers available )then i went into nvidea settings and added rage to white list and set the texture filtering on high performance set the vertical sync to use 3d application settings global settings is standart .I even tried it with out any adjustments no luck.It just keeps trhowing me to desktop without any reason.
I even made a ram stress test to see if its a module that died on me but they work fine aswell... So it has to be the 560
A freind of mine has the same rig but has a gtx260 (note the 2 gig version) installed and the game runs great no freezing no crashes i also have the card but i refuse to use it since i spended my cash on the 560
@ Foley as stated they wanted to release drivers equally .

The DxDiag looks like you're running a SLI configuration? Is that the case? If so, have you tried disabling SLI for this?

I use an ASUS 560Ti and it runs perfectly with the 285 beta drivers on Win7.

(Texture Cache Large, AA 4x, Aniso high, Transcode on, Vsync on.)

Disable SLI. Rage doesn't support it.

/edit - sorry, I guess you aren't running SLI, but your DXDiag info makes it look like you do

i did not post a direct x diagnosis-- what i posted is a simple everest hardware log...
but thanks for the tip... nvidea control panel will only show enable disable options if you have a dual gpu card installed ( like the 590 )
And has then under physx an extra setting do disable sli but since im running a 560 that option doesnt exist. So im still walking in the dark and have no clue what my problem is since it seems iam the only Nvidea dude that cant run the game without having CTD
The game works flawless besides the CTD / Here is a DirectXDiag

Nvidia User here <---

Played the game to finish by just only following the story line stuff. In 24 hours, and not a single crash. So you really sure it's Nvidia ?

I cant think of anything else
My rig is clean and dust filtered the GFX card is like 2 months old
The CPU is on an average of 65-67 Celsius while playing Rage
The GFX GPU has an average temperature of 37-42 C ingame while running like a maniac
I stress tested my RAM modules all ok all of them are intact and working
my GFX card 560 should do better than a gtx260 and the Gtx260 is able to run the game without crashing...strangely
I have no other appllications runnning when i launch rage and not while playing.
Saying that you played the game through completely doesnt help me and your not even giving out some system specs...
everything else was already in post 1...All i want to know when i can expect a new driver...
If it still doesnt work i will CTD through the GAME since i want to play it...

Ok since i really wanted to play this game- i simply crashed restarted crashed restarted had my free day today so that was ok but quite annoying, i had to play certain missions over and ove.i already reached the subwaytown so i continued playing with CTD
So yes i finished the game with a total 23 crashes from subway town didnt count the crashes before that but iam still pleased with the game despite the CTD′s missed a few races and sidemissions but ok.
Im looking forward to play another round on hard as soon as things got fixed.

I've been playing this without any issue's since it was released, using 280.26 drivers and no graphics or textures problems at all,so no tearing, missing textures or popping or crashes, plays at 60fps on my GT440 and on XP,am loving it and after the patch yes there are more graphics options and this is what works on them so far,gpu transcode is enabled, anisotropic filter set to high, text cache is set to small as putting it to large just crashes to desktop if applied,v sync not enabled as i never use it in games, anti aliasing is set to off as when i try to enable even at 2x just causes a crash to desktop if applied but not too worried about the latter options as i'm sure will be sorted in near future and it still looks and plays like a dream.

<----- Hoping for SOMEBODY to release some sort of damn update that actually makes the game work, and not work if you do a bunch of messing around with the [censored] just to make it run how it SHOULD run.

Have you uninstalled all previous drivers and done driver sweep [http://phyxion.net/Driver-Sweeper/Driver-Sweeper/] before restarting and then installing new drivers? <- can't recommend this enough

After this try running the game without a cfg or any control panel changes.

After that add a cfg and tweak.

In the first place, it's spelled Nvidia. In the second place, I have been running fine on NV driver 280.26 from launch day. 16x anti-aliasing, 8k texture setting with the transcode disabled. The game is great but too short. 21 hours for me. I gotta believe there's too many nubs trying to tweak the game and the tweaks are crashing it. At the same time, Carmack is pissed and so I gotta believe there is some legit problems with drivers. It seems mostly ATi drivers though.

A great video card is not the final word here on computer compatibility. If your CPU is not up to specs you need to run the game on lower settings. Doesn't matter how good your video card is.

First Thanks i dont know why i always write down nvidea instead of nvidia - what card did you use what system specs do you have ???- since you mention that the game wont run on a low end cpu with high end GPU card.
I think that you are not aware that the game causes problems aswell on my I7 2600k with enough horsepower same card ( Gainward gtx560 P ).
Second: i also tweaked my cfg but thats not the problem with or without it the game is crashing to desk :P and i dont see myself as noob.
I tried all the drivers available each with a clean uninstall fallowed with save mode driver sweep and restart new installation i even cleaned all nvidea drivers even the ones for the motherboard and updated them just to be sure each time.
Game does still CTD therefore iam waiting for new drivers and another patch.

Well Carmack pissed or not i dont care actually and i dont blame him i blame who ever tested the PC version before release and gave the thumbs up for shipping.
Even if its not ID′s fault and it will show if it is a compability proplem of the drivers Nvidia and ATI have to offer at the moment. But a producing company never wants to have this kind reputation/result when releasing a title, since it just hurts the image of the company itself be it your fault or not.
And if John is pissed than just because of this fact, even if the game runs fine on many platforms or systems.
( thats why i love beta′s ) Game′s get tested for free + you get feedback on how it works on various systems.
Still the Game is what it is a new adventure that beats everything that has been with bugs a little less without even more
