Experience and other things that svck. :)

I want to start out saying that if you want to get to 50 in one day, I wish you all the luck in the world. I would never want to step on your dreams. I in no way want to impede on how you play.

What I would like is an experience slider for different aspects of the game. Examples...

Quest experience: 0 xp---10%---20%---30%---40%---50%---60%---70%---80%---90%---Normal xp gain.

Explore experience: 0 xp---10%---20%---30%---40%---50%---60%---70%---80%---90%---Normal xp gain.

Killing experience: 0 xp---10%---20%---30%---40%---50%---60%---70%---80%---90%---Normal xp gain.

PvP experience: 0 xp---10%---20%---30%---40%---50%---60%---70%---80%---90%---Normal xp gain.

Rest experience: 0 xp---10%---20%---30%---40%---50%---60%---70%---80%---90%---Normal xp gain.

Crafting experience: 0 xp---10%---20%---30%---40%---50%---60%---70%---80%---90%---Normal xp gain.

There are many reasons why I would like this.

  • Stay the same level as my friends
  • Won't gain so much xp that the next area is too low for me
  • I don't want to get to 50 too quick
  • I might find an area I really enjoy and might want to stay there a while
  • I want to explore every nook and cranny of an area at the same level as the area

This may not be for everyone, but I see no reason for it not to be in the game. If you want to level up fast, never use the slider.

You do agree this should be in the game? Why or why not?

Thanks for your replies.

Against it personally, I feel in MMOs everyone should have to face the same challenges on an equal opportunity system.

I don't care about that suggestion. For me skill based leveling is always superior to experience based. No matter how the experience is made out I always despise it (especially if there are shiny experience balls you need to collect after kill like in Fable - it's just disgusting).

Well, I personally wouldn't want to slow my XP gain. Nor would I want to speed it either.

I just want to be able to level normally to max level by just questing.

Any kind of mob grinding to gain levels is sure to make me quit the game.

Of course we will have quests that require to kill certain amount of mobs and so on but I will not tolerate just taking a spot and killing random mobs without a quest behind it.

This exp slider is like trying to fix a glassful of lemonade by throwing rocks at it. :D

Not really, no. If I would see merit in this idea, maybe. I think it is basically whining about self induced pain.

Fixing something that is not broken is not good problem solving.

  • Stay the same level as my friends // Make an arrangement with your friends. (eg: Friday night ESO party)
  • Won't gain so much xp that the next area is too low for me // Linearity in an MMO, or any free roaming game for that reason is broken design. ESO will not be linear.) It is pretty muh up to you how you progress.
  • I don't want to get to 50 too quick //Then take your time, enjoy the scenery, play as many aspects, mini games as you wish, manage your on and offline time better
  • I might find an area I really enjoy and might want to stay there a while // Then do so, no one forces you not to.
  • I want to explore every nook and cranny of an area at the same level as the area // First explore an area, then start to complete tasks granting experience, make priorities.
