Export face from save?

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 6:00 am

I'm just wondering if there is a way to export the face of my Character, then use it in a new character (or over-write the face of an existing character)

Also if its possible to export the face from my save-game and import it into Blender 3D. If I could do that, then I could make some cool wallpapers :) (its just not the same with a blank face :| )

Thanks in advance for any replies.

At the moment I dont think so, when I started a new game I asked the same question, but had no luck. Fortunately the new face I made is better and I made a save specifically starting outside the first dungeon in case I want to use it again to start over.

Bash offers the feature in Oblivion but it was never included in FO3 or FONV version of Bash (different support person/team). However, I don't know if it is intended to be included in Skyrim. You may want to ask on the Wrye Bash thread.

I know there's a console command that's something like savepcface or savenpcface. I even used it. It made a *.npc file named after my character, but I don't know of any way to import it.

Maybe it can be imported by the CK?

Someone's gotta know this command!

EDIT: Ahaa! You can!

However, it's only useful if you know your way in the CK.

Yeah SPF *insert name* or SavePCFace *name. It can only be imported into the CK, so you'll need to make it a template NPC and import it into the race you want to use it. Also, Ctrl F4 exports the character's face into a nif (this is also how you combat the grey face glitch) and texture, but I'm not sure how useful it is.

Here's the sequence.
- The race of character exported and imported should be the same.

1. In game, load your saved game you want to export. Open console, click your character in third person view, type spf [filetosave] and enter (eg. spf mychar)

2. execute CK, open DATA, double click Skyrim.esm and click OK (i.e. load Skyrim.esm using CK)

3. Find preset of race you want to import in Actors, and open it
- e.g. There is NordFemalePreset01-09, at Actors-Actor-Preset-NordRace-Female in Object Window

4. In Actor window, select Character Gen Parts in above tabs (You should press righ arrow serveral times)

5. In Character Gen Parts, click Import button in right top and select npc file you saved in console (e.g. mychar.npc)

6. And close the actor window by pressing ok in left below.

7. Save your esp file in File ->Save. You should name your esp appropriately.

8. And activate your esp using mod manager or skyrim launcher and launch the game.

9. In game, you can use the face exported in your previous save by selecting the preset in showracemenu. That's it!
(No hair is selected. You should choose hair again)

In addition, you can export your face in saved games to npc in a same manner.
You just open npc's actor window instead of preset actor one. Do not forget to Ctrl+F4 to export character's face in this case.

Sorry for my poor english, hope you can understand it.

Very interesting find you all have here. This is actually some very useful capability to have as those of us with chronic restart-itis will find a lot of use from this ability to export facial features. Just tried it using my character face from an old save on a new game with Live Another Life installed and it worked perfectly from what I can tell. Thanks for the info, will be a much used feature I'm sure.

I did the ctrl+F4 thing, it said it exported it, but I have no idea what the file's name, or location is. I've already looked in all the obvious places (skyrim, data, meshes, actors, savegame area) and nothing is there. So I guess there is no way to export the face file in a way that it can be used in Blender?

Also, thanks again for everybody's help, and Lastaim your English is nearly flawless :)
