Extracting Textures from Official High-Res Pack

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 10:39 am

Is there a way to do this? I'm trying to do it through OBMM, but get the error message: "Exception of type: 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown."

What I'd like to do is use the official texture pack as a base, and then add some other texture mods on top (mainly weapons and armour). By default, the official pack over-writes any texture mods in the texture folder, so leaving it as it is won't work. At the same time, I already have a lot of mods that retexture cities and woodwork, but now that an official high-res mod is out I'd rather use the official textures to get as close to the original art style as possible - hence wanting to extract the textures, and dump them into the texture folder, over-writing everything I don't need anymore.

The long way to do this would be to track down every texture mod I don't need anymore and manually delete the texture files. But if there's a way to do it this quick way (extract official textures and over-write) I'd love to know.

Many thanks for reading ^_^

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=247 to extract. IMHO best to extract then zip it up and install using http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1840 or NMM to deal with priority (what overwrites what) and allow for easy removal.

Also http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8236 fixes the errors in the pack.

Thanks! Do I install the DLC fix before or after extracting the textures?

It is best to use an installer to install them after you extract them - doing this will allow you to have control over what is installed.

I recommend BAIN then just install the fixes after the DLC textures.
