Eye of the Vampire - what are they supposed to look like?

Ever since the release of Dawnguard I've seen loads of mods that claim to fix the eyes of vampires here and there, adding or removing glows or changing textures. Some claiming there are two vampire-eye textures in Dawnguard and others that there is only one and other effects are just broken. I've googled and searched forums for a proper answer to this but have turned up with empty hands, therefore I now turn the question to you all.

Eye of the Vampire - what is it supposed to look like? (Is the inconsistency a bug?)
I've been assuming there were two different textures for their eyes in Dawnguard;
1. The big orange iris and small, dark pupil that Serana has. (Which I get on redguards, imperials, bretons, nord females and orcs.) Similar to the elven eye design. (http://images.wikia.com/elderscrolls/images/c/c0/Serana.png)
2. Orange/brown "whites" with a strong yellow glow from a normal iris-sized area, like Lord Harkon. (http://images.uesp.net/e/e5/SR-player-Altmer_Vampirism.jpg)

But after rummaging through the net I was given the impression that there was in fact only one texture and that eyes similar to Serana were simply missing the proper glow. I also thought it could be deliberate and that all elf-blood got the glow like Harkon and all humans plus orcs got the other type. But that wouldn't make sense since Harkon and other male nords have the "elven" variation. I thought perhaps that it had something to do with gender, but the vampire Valerica have different eyes compared to Serana.

So what is my question? Is there a bug or not and is there even a right or wrong in this?

That's a good question...

I'm pretty sure it's a bug, because I've made a nord male that got the glow effect, and another nord male I made got the orange/black Serana eyes. Damned if I can figure out why.

Two wholly separate eye textures, distributed arbitrarily:

-Yellow with no pupil
-Red iris

NPCs can have whatever the hell eyes the designer wants to add. Why do people assume that they're bound by the same rules the player is?

With different races, the only two I've really played are nord and imperial.

Now my nord I know his eyes glitch if I pick anything but default eye textures, otherwise one eye will be a vampire eye and the other the nord eye.
His eyes look identical to serana's.

Every time I have an imperial vampire though his eyes turn into harkons flashlight eyes, which I like to do just so it looks creepy and ominous.

Type of eyes are binded with:
-six(Male/Female)
-Race
-PC or NPC

I tried all combinations.Meres(or mers? How this goddamned elves should be called?) mostly have fully glowing eyes.Human-like races have "Serana's eyes".
But in CK you can set any type of eyes to NPC.My follower created with only Skyrim.esp got fully glowing eyes. With DG.esp I choosed orange eyes to her which I like more.

PS by the way this eyes called "human eyes vampire" and "human eyes vampire 01" so there is no right or wrong type.Meres have "orcish eyes vampire" if I'm not mistaken.
