faction armor eaten by companion = :(

Post » Mon Dec 27, 2010 2:08 pm

So I get to discover this lovely bug whereby giving faction armor to a companion causes the faction armor to simply vanish. Of course I discover this when I hand my nice shiney new t-51b power armor to Boone, don't notice the bug until after I have zoned and overwritten my save, leaving me with the option of going back like 8 hours to a very old save or just saying screw it.

So 2 things:

1. fix that bug pls, it is very annoying
2. anyone know how to either a) console command (pc version, here) the 2 fallen brotherhood paladins from the repconn headquarters into the game with their power armor? or B) anyone know the baseid for brotherhood power armor in fallout newvegas? The old baseid's from fallout3 work, but I don't think it's the same item: using the old baseid 000A6F77 you get "t-51b power armor" instead of "brotherhood t-51b power armor so I'm guessing it's 2 totally distinct items.

Ideally I'd just like to respawn the 2 dead paladins in repconn with their exact gear in the exact condition you normally would find it: I don't like to use cheat codes (except in cases like this to rectify a glaring bug), and I like the whole process of finding a broken down item of value like the armor, scouring the lands to get it at or close to 100% repair. The console cheat method would just give me 100% armor depriving me of the fun of assembling a decent suit myself.

Thanks!

Go back to where you handed him the armor. I've noticed at least some of the companions inexplicably drop at least some of the faction armor. In fact I believe Boone dropped every piece of faction armor I gave him that wasn't NCR. If you don't notice it lying on the ground it's easy to leave behind.

Yeah it pops up a message that says: Companion cannot wear this factions armor. Then the armor is dropped on the ground. If you can remember where you gave it to him it will be there on the ground.

Tried that: not there. Scoured the area for a good 30 minutes to be 100% sure.

So again, any way to console command the 2 fallen paladins back in or barring that, anyone have the baseid for the fo:nv version of the armor?

I just had this happen with Ed-E.

I gave him some NCR mantle armor i found to hold, not to wear, and a message popped up saying "this character cannot equip faction armor".

I didn't notice for a bit that he wasn't carrying it,figure whenever i get around to it i'll go back and see if he dropped it.

No biggie.

Though a friend complained that he gave Boone some items to hold and he promptly equipped a lead pipe and got killed even though he was on ranged weapons in the companion command.

Hopefully in an upcoming patch they can add equip best weapon/armor commands like they had in FO2 so that the equipment an NPC follower equips compliments their skills.

Avoid giving them faction armor, ranged weapons they have ammo for unless you want them used or any kind of usable item like a grenade. If you do, they will proceed to switch to the minigun they're awful with and waste every 5mm bullet you have on a Giant Radscorpion it does 0 damage to, then chuck a grenade at your feet and run in with a straight razor to die.

All the companions are in or allied with certain factions and when you give em different faction armor they'll just drop it. If you couldn't find the armor in the area where you gave it to boone... it probably got erased cuz u went without it for a certain period of time... long enough for a game refresh.

You could go back to the REPCONN building hit the back quote key select them with your mouse and type "resurrect" this will cause them to come back to life with everything they originally had (iirc) then type "kill", which essentially kills them

this is the code straight from the G.E.C.K

code is 000ee68d

and this is from the wiki if you don't want to go back to REPCONN

player.additemhealthpercent - add item to your inventory, with a specified condition. Quality should be given in decimal form.
Example: player.additemhealthpercent 432E 1 .50 will add 1 Gatling Laser at 50% to the player's inventory.

this will add it at whatever percent you want
