Faction + race

What was the reason for this option?

This is game breaking for me, because now you have elfs working together with nords. In my opinion it svcks. i already decide i won't be playing this game on pc or ps

Now what is truly the reason for this? And if you say it because of given more freedom to the players, because people can betray there faction bla bla bla. Why is it only pre order?

Only i can think about is they want to make sure they have alot of pre orders but thats me.

Any 1 have some more information about this subject, because i am still curious.

Cheers.

It's game making for me. Being able to play with my friends in a faction that I otherwise would not have considered is a massive bonus. I'm more excited than ever to start playing TESO because of this feature.

Can we please have these treads merged? Too many of the same topic.

This is kind of crazy. Last year there was all sorts of crying over faction locks existing. Now there is all sorts of crying when they get rid of it. Seems like ZOS is screwed no matter what they do.

Ok...I'm going to explain the difference in the arguments so people stop making this comparison.

People hated faction locks because they feel contrived and silly within the elder scrolls universe.

Unfortunately, Zenimax created an ENTIRE STORYLINE that justified the faction locks. For example, the goal of the entire Aldmeri Dominion, including their queen, is to keep humans off the throne of Tamriel. They would "rather have an altmer infant on the throne than a human". That is their ENTIRE goal.

So now it makes even LESS sense for a nord to be actively working for the aldmeri dominion, or God forbid become emperor, than ever before. Zenimax wrote themselves into a corner, and their attempt to try and "fix" things made this make even less sense.

This is a good decision! Why should you be automatically boxed into fighting for X alliance just because your race is Y? The makes it more life-like because, believe it or not, people had different opinions regardless of their background or race. Not all Nords are a bunch of freedom fighting, elf haters so why should the players be boxed into that category?

Despite the stupid decisions that ZOS revealed to the globe yesterday, this is an excellent thing to have in this game.

They are not "screwed", this is just how the world works, you can't please everyone and ZOS are not an exception to this rule.

And if that the reason, why is it only pre order? Why shouldn't you be able to choose your faction EB and High elf when the game is already 1 year out.

It called making decisions. In real life you gotte choose for that but wont be able to do that. Maybe Zenimax sees players as spoiled kids.

Well I can't give you an answer for that. I don't think it should be part of the pre-order or a potential function that you have to throw money at in order to use it in months time but that's just speculation.

I am not sure how I feel about this, but it can be good for roleplaying. If you have a character that is mixed race, you can choose to follow either of your parent's allegiances, regardless of your looks (I.e an Altmer-Nord with a heavy Nord appearance can join the Aldmeri).
