Factions Relations

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 1:02 am

I'm loving the Morrowind fell of the Factions! They seem to have both purpose and some relation with other factions. That adds depth to the world.
Here is what we know so far:

The amazing thing is that everything that we know so far is purely based in just few days of footage. Imagine what else is left to be discovered.
If you know something else, post here so that we can add to the List.

The Battle-Borns are a powerful Clan that hold some land by Whiterun. They sided with the Empire and seems to have relations with The Companions.
The Shield-Brothers seems to be the predominant part of The Companions that don't sided with the Empire. They are "commanded" by the Grey-Mane Family.

Adding: Grey-Mane Family X Battle-Born Family

Shield-Brothers are a sub-faction of the Companions. (Like the Circle)

I don't believe the Baatle-Borns are... But, who knows? I just know they hate the Grey-Manes and are very anti-Stormcloak.

So...does this mean joining both the Companions and the Imperial Legion is a bad idea?

Yes. The Companions are NOT Imperially-sanctioned like the Fighters Guild.

Damn. DAMN. I even chose to become a werewolf just so I could join the Companions; and now I'm faced with the Imperial Legion, which I am adamant on joining, opposing the Companions.

I'm not sure if the Companions and Imperial Legion are ENEMIES exactly, but I'm assuming that they WOULDN'T want a werewolf in their ranks.

Yeah, but when that werewolf end up winning the war for them, there's not much they can say about it, is there? :P From the updates in the OP, I see that the Shield-brothers and the Battle-born are actually neutral against each other, it's just the Grey-mane Family which is anti-Legion. Please tell me the Grey-manes aren't the chiefs of the Companions...

No one is chief of anyone in the Companions, but the Grey-Mane Family has a predominant influence in it.

So what does this mean if I want to join the Companions as an Imperial Legionary? Can I support the Battle-born and make the Companions pro-Imperial? Or will the Grey-Mane influence be there to stay?

Nothing confirmed or unconfirmed. But that would be awesome. Anyway... I think that The Companions Questline is more tied to The Circle.

I don't want to join the guild and realise that they're going to hate me for helping the Legion though. Hopefully this stuff gets confirmed soon.

The Thalmor are totally controlling the Empire, trying to gain man's obedience and eventually enslaving them. Stormcloaks ftw.

Who's to say the aren't the ones obeying the Empire in Skyrim? Well, if it turns out that the Legion takes the Thalmor as their superiors in Skyrim, I'm definitely going Stormcloaks. Roman armour or not, Imperial Army or not, bored of Rebels or not, I will not take orders from an Altmer! :swear:

EDIT: Changed elf to Altmer.

The Circle and Shield-Brothers are still a part of The Companions.

Shield-Brothers (and sisters) are what the members call each other.

The Circle is the hierarchy within the guild. Also they are the members whom are lycans.

 I changed that because I'm a big fan of Dunmer myself.

Anyway, I'm now hoping for proof or disproof that the Imperial Legion might be taking orders from the Thalmor. Until then, my character's back at square one. :pinch:

There is some confusion about this subject.

All the Shield-Brothers are members of The Companions.

But are all the Companions Shield-Brothers?

The leaked footage of the intro seemed to indicate that the Thalmor were the Empire's overseers, trying to make sure that Ulfric Stormcloak was executed.

It could also be that the Thalmor are aiding the Empire as agents and helping them to track down Ulfric, thus making them under the Legion?

Indalus, the Thalmor were going to rofl stomp the empire, the empire elicited a peace treaty that includes the ban on Talos worship, the Thalmore totally have the Empire around a Noose.

I Don't care who the Emperor plays nice with!
I am going to gut any Thalmor scum that crosses my path!
The Legion must stand against this menace!
