Faendal's house is safe

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:02 pm

Because I couldn't get the Whitrun house (because of glitch) I had to use Faendal's house. It's a good central location, by the time I got my house in Riften I was at level 19 and had been using the house since early in the game. None of my loot has vanished, but also I didn't take any of Faendal's things. Moving most of my stuff to my house I may have taken something of his and this may cause something, I don't now yet. Since my character in this game is a female Breton, Faendal makes a good companion, haha Lydia looks so butch now.

Cool, thanks for the tip.

Any specific container, or are they all safe?

Not sure if the items will actually be labelled as stolen when you take them out of Faendal's storage but I noticed valuable stuff gets marked as stolen if put it into his containers. Never tested this thoroughly as I found it to be too unsure.
Once after a fight with a dragon I placed its bones/scales on a cart near a smithy and I could watch him walk up to the cart and pick them up. When I spoke to him to confront him a dialogue along the lines: "You should take better care where you place your stuff" fired up then I was given back 1 out of 8 items he had taken (4 bones,4 scales).

Just a friendly warning and a heads up for further testing ;)

Edit:
Just tested if valuable items really get marked as stolen: They don't but the UI may trick you into believing so because they get "labelled" red (tested with legendary glass battleaxe)

I had some dragon bones in one of his chest that show red, but once taken out it was fine and I sold it.

So the containers in Faendal's are safe then? I'm as rubbish at making money in this game as I am in real life and still can't afford Breezehome at level 16. I'm sure Faendal wouldn't mind me shacking up in his place though, seeing how as soon as he got the all clear with the woman of his dreams I dragged him away on some missions he didn't care for, only to use him as a pack mule and rip him off for archery lessons, and then use him as a meat shield and run away when we were 5 on 2 against some bandits outside Saarthal. Unlucky bud!

since 1.3 all containers in all locations are safe if they are of type wardrobe or treasure chest. even if the chest respawns to its original state, your items will not dissapear.

hell you can drop them on the ground and they will remain there forever.

How about unpatched? I'm on an unconnected, ancient Ps3,i'm waiting to hear good things about patches before I install any, don't want 0 armour werewolves, non combative dragons or whatever, just want to play the game without massive lag after a certain point. This is my second character,a glitch on the Companions quest made me stop playing the first time round,i could accept a certain amount of lag ,but really wanted to give those hags heads to those folks ....broke my murdering heart. So after some grieving for my lost month,I started up a new character, not travelling so far and wide, staying within 3 holds and.....[censored],you don't want my game life story,is Faendal's a place you can store stuff safely when he's expired?

1.3 is the current and most stabile version which fixed gamebreaking bugs of 1.2 though honestly it doesnt add much from 1.1.12.

faendal's house is safe...just avoid barrels as these will destroy your items.

If you have Faendal as a follower and items you pick up in his house would be tagged stolen have Faendal pick them up and take them from his inventory it wont be marked stolen

Cool,so its all ok if he's dead then,I suppose. Didn't really care to much about the guy until the time I left him outside the chamber to a minor boss and closed the door so he wouldn't get in the way...had the strategy down. Messed up the strategy, timed something wrong, left myself open with a little health left, who decides to wander in,against orders? this guy, puts an arrow in the uglys head,he's confused, and we finish it.That was deadly,I'd closed the door after telling him to stay put, wasn't expecting an intervention whatsoever! Got jumped by 5 tougher than usual bandits outside that dungeon and he died, there was a companion in the mix, everyone was wearing the same gear and it was tough to figure out who to burn......After Farkas just stood there like nothing had happened, forwarding questions about the Companions, like I'd applied to join them already, when this was the first time I'd seen anyone of them....

All that, and then he'll still attend your wedding. Somethin' wrong with that boy.

It would be cool if the people you dike over end up being brought back by sympathetic necromancers,or turned as vampires, werewolves or whatever...just to hunt you,and specialise in hanging back and hitting you at your weakest...that would keep you on your toes...
