I'm either horribly wrong or pretty much every video card after 2005 or 2006 or so had Shader Model 3 so you probably have something pretty ancient in there

Looking forward to your dxdiag

The changeover was in process during 2006. nVIDIA's Geforce 6nnn generation had the shader capabilities, but was quite inefficient working with them, as were the Geforce 7nnn cards. ATI's Xnn generation was split in half. The X600 and downward did not have Shader3, and the X700-upward did have the majority of shader3's features/functions.
Intel kept waiting until 2009 or 2010 with their video chips before adding the shaders.
