I'm finally seeing my first significant bugs I guess.

The Jarl of Falkreath won't offer me any quests toward becoming his thane. I'm down to Falkreath, Riften and Windhelm and have finished all the others. I did Dawnstar last and I have the 'Get bounty from Skald' bug where I've already turned in that bounty quest and gotten paid but it stays in my journal.

Is there any chance the Skald bug is preventing me from becoming thane in Falkreath (and possibly Riften and Windhelm too, haven't checked)? Is it possible the Jarl of Falkreath will change his mind later and decide to offer quests if I work down some of my quest log?

Any help would be appreciated. I've already tried using the console to clear Skald's bounty thing (showquesttargets, getstage, setstage, etc.) and had no luck.

Yeah, I had this issue. Falkreath Jarl won't give you the first quest to bring him Black-Briar Mead. I cleared my quest log and eventually he offered me the quest. I don't know which quest ultimately "unlocked" it, but I know that I had a dozen+ quests active, and when I got that down below 5, the thane quest became available.

I haven't been able to clear those either, but they don't interfere with anything. Many favor quests do use shared governing quest scripts and quest IDs though and any of the following might need to be completed before he'll offer it (game will not pile on additional quests using the same script, ID, and structure until you finish any active one using it):

Get a Mammoth Tusk for Ysolda in Whiterun
Get an Amulet of Arkay for Torbjorn Shatter-Shield in Windhelm
Get a copy of The Mirror for Captain Aldis in Solitude
Get a copy of Song of the Alchemists for Lami in Morthal
Get a copy of Night Falls on Sentinel for Rustleif in Dawnstar

If you started but have not finished any of those quests you won't be offered "get black-briar mead for Siddgeir". Those are all the favor quests I can find which use the same script so any of those could do it.

Generally if you aren't being offered a quest you are the right level for, finish up incomplete misc quests and try again. Luckily the particular journal bug with Dawnstar bounties does not block any other quests because it does not share a script with them. It does not even appear to block itself (ie, getting more bounties.)

Thank you!! This was the one that was holding me up. I completed the quest for Rustleif and that got the Jarl giving me quests.

Ironically, I saw my first backwards flying dragon near Kynegrove as a reminder that while one thing gets fixed, something else breaks. Heh. Hopefully the patch coming this week will sort this all out.
