Ok so I started on the buying up land in Hearthfire and go the first two plots then went to falkreath to buy the last one and I got the quest to get the black briar mead for the jarl. Now he won't give me the one to kill the bandit leader though.

I read that having uncompleted fetch quests will stop him giving you the one for the mead but does the same happen for the bandit leader?

Because I have a kill the bandit leader quest active for Nilhelm but it doesn't show as a quest marker on the map and when I go there all the bandits are dead except one who is sleeping and a dead guy who is apparently a bandit in disguise.

Will this be stopping him giving me the second quest and how do I get it to complete?
