to my problem, I've bought yesterday evening Fallout NewVegas on Steam. This does not work, I have already read in other forums that there is a problem with the launch of Fallout which is also the case with me. Say: Fallout> Start New Game> Intro> Fallout does not work .. After I have read many other forums in the fallout of Steam is patched by hand. For me, though not, I've restart 100times i think I've googled or re-installed the Game... also i looked up to search for an Update button in recruiting update automatically and do not update automatically switched back and forth and back and forth at each restart Steam. But .. nothing works .. Steam do not install the patch, wich repair the start problem and to resolve other problems. I'm desperate just before. I hope there is someone who had the same problem and solved it by a trick or something similar ..

Here try it may work

1. Load Steam
2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
3. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
4. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
5. Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

What version of the game do you have? (Or country of origin.) Some versions lake longer to get the patch out. (Russia seems to be one of those places if memory serves me correctly. Keep in mind I have a crap memory. )

Try disabling the Steam Cloud and Community option. Right click>FalloutNV.exe>Properties>General(tab)>(untick)Enable Steam Community in game.

On the Updates tab untick the Enable Steam Cloud option.

i have the German version i think its 1.0.2 or something.. where i can check it?

okay i untick it all and now i restart but just a update remember for AMD Graphics came. But i could not check seme from Steam becouse something with the servers are wrong..

okay i saw before 1 Second that Fallout is allready was patcht but its courrently not work.. so also with the newest Patcht..

Your display and sound drivers could both use an update. (Get and install the Application Profiles at the bottom of the driver download page for the display to.)

Other than that the DXDIAG looks good. (As far as codecs are concerned.)

See if either of those help.

What is the version number of the game?
If you downloaded the game you probably have the latest version already. The game updates itself through steam.

To check what version you have Either:
1. Start the game
2. Main menu select settings then display
3. The version number should be on the lower left

OR

Go into the game directory and right click the .exe
Select properties and details tab
The version will be listed there too.

Both your audio and video card ddrivers are outdated.

The version number is 1.2.14.000.

My audio driver is already updated and my new card is also updated.

I've got the same exact problem. Downloaded from steam on a machine thats not even a month old. Before, I was able to at least watch the intro video before the game crashed, but now I can't even get the game launcher to open. I was able to open Fallout 3 but it crashed as soon as I tried to launch a new game. After a couple days of research and maybe 10 different methods, I finally got it to work(no thanks to Bethesda).
I really wish Bethesda would put as much care into there product as do other software companies. Mark my words; Fallout New Vegas will be the last Bethesda product I will ever buy!
