I think just Fallout 1/2/New Vegas are niche.

If by niche, you mean a small amount of people enjoyed them, you're very mistaken. New Vegas did nearly as well as Fallout 3.


Fallout 1 & 2 for their times were very popular RPGs that were genre defining.


If you're referring to my post, by niche I was referring to the the RPG genre, which is a niche, along with FPS, RTS, and other games within the gaming sphere -- or in other words, a niche within the gaming community.


According to Webster, a "niche" is a specialized market, which can refer to any game genre, and of course there are niches within niches.
