Fallout NV or Rage

I wanted a unbiased opinion so I will ask here

Which one is better. Ignore the cost. I want a game very similar to TES until Kingdom of Amalur

Not sure this is relevant...

New Vegas is unequestionably closer to Skyrim. It's the exact same style, just with guns instead. Rage, on the other hand, is nowhere near the same style at all.

New Vegas easily. Just started Rage, but it has nothing on New Vegas.

I've played both, and in my opinon, New Vegas is much closer to TES and is also a better game than Rage.

I haven't played Rage, but I enjoyed NV more than Skyrim, Oblivion, and even Morrowind.

They're really not that similar...

But, if you want a game like Kingdoms of Amalur, Fallout: New Vegas would be it.

Add another vote to New Vegas. Haven't played Rage, but from everything I've seen/read about it it's more of a shooter than anything else. Nothing like TES.

RAGE isn't an RPG or open world game, it's a shooter with some driving. It's somewhat more open than the average FPS, but that doesn't mean much.

New Vegas is much closer to TES.

A pure fps thats around 6 hours. Or the rpg that has ate up so many hours of my life. Also FNV has a version with all dlc now.

You buy, you buy.

Never played Rage but NV is very nice. Similar to TES with obvious differences (story, weapons, lore, tone) but it is unquestionably similar, same engine for example (which will tell you alot how it works

Not sure about Rage but I would choose New Vegas due to one simple thing. (Player Created Content) There are LOADS of mobs out there and it is super easy to experiment making your own. Got into it myself making a revamped crafting system with 2 new benches plus loads of new crafting recipes even introducing sub-components that you can craft. Was always fun trying to decide stuff like (Fusion Battery + Metal + Lead + Conductor) = Home Made Mini-nuke that I personally designed myself.

Only bad thing I will say about NV is the DLC is kind of shoddy not being what I expected. Not sure if i'll grab the DLC pack that hits steam when they put all of them together for a bundle.

Rage was one of the most boring, unneeded shooters of recent memories. New Vegas was one of the most satisfying games of the last few years.

I hate the mods excuse.

I give money to say bethesda for oblivion, I shouldnt need to then DL tons of mods to actually make it fun. Mods shouldnt factor in unless buying pre owned imo, becuase its not the devs work, and I wouldnt support dev just for the work the modders do instead. Also mods are PC only.

"the actual gaming experience of a game shouldn't factor into whether or not you should buy that game".

This is what you're saying. Mods exist. Sorry. They play a huge role in how fun the game is. Not factoring this in is stupid.

Community work should not effect purchase of a game. Say you have a damn horrible game, like DNF, but it has some good modders, do you really think that justifies buying that POS ? The devs would basicly be selling a toolkit for the price of the game. Thats just wrong. Or would you be ok if say TES VI was just tool kit, while priced at $60 ?

All that does is say its ok to make poor products, and the modding community will pick up the slack. To me, its stupid to reward people for other peoples work.

NV is an open world game. Rage is a fake mission choice game with pure FPS intense actions. Killing a boss in Rage is much more satisfying than killing a dragon in Skyrim. Exploring in Fallout: NV is almost identical to exploration in Skyrim.

Everything about the similarities between NV and what you want has already been stated, however Rage is a very very fun game. I enjoyed it thoroughly, it's a pity about the initial tech gremlins, but for most people it runs fine.

I've not played RAGE, but holy crap, over 250 hours on New Vegas, and yes, it has similar mechanics to Skyrim. As another player posted, of course, it has guns rather than swords & so on. You can probably get it pretty cheap right now on Steam.
