Fans: Stay United for a rich experience

Post » Wed Jul 31, 2013 3:28 am

I think it is possible (given the recent RP vs. non-RP debates) to move forward in good faith and still suggest content or speculate on content in a constructive way that will enrich the game experience for everyone.

Any addition or innovation in game that lets you interact with the MMORPG world would be a welcome development.

Let's not focus on bursting the bubble for RPers or focus on pointing out the follies (or imagined follies) of other interested gamers. Let's get back to the things that we are interested in seeing develop.

For example, will there be puzzles in Dwemer ruins to stump, reward , and challenge players?

Will there be content to reward true explorations, say when a character figures out that a scroll found in the Aldmeri Dominion and a precious metal found in Daggerfell reveal a new recipe?

The potential for addition and expandability to ESO is incredible and a more unified approach with compromise and concessions is what is needed to make the game truly remarkable. At the same time, the devs and the fans will stick to their guns in some circumstances to ensure progress is made.

Its very hard to focus on the good things (of which there are so many) on these forums.

Every other thread here is some sort of gripe about some minor game system that isn't upto someone's particular specification, and how that is "the deal breaker" or "yet another way ZOS is crapping on [insert random thing here]".

This place must be depressing for any staff involved with the game to actually read.

I think if there are enough mature discussions held, it will inspire others to become excited again. I know I was really happy to see the focus on RP in the latest news, but I also knew full well how certain people were going to react on forums. Some people react violently to anything that makes them think, and they post quickly and loudly about the rant-du-jour. I have found that scanning a page, and ignoring the very short posts makes it easier to find intelligent discussions.

As for the OP questions, I do think there will be puzzles and Dwemer machinations won't be the only form. Getting past some of the ancient Alyeid traps can be very time-consuming too. I also expect to see situations where an ore found in one dungeon and a book found in another will be the way to learn new recipes. It will be really fun to discover an ancient library, not have the time to clean it out, but forced to find companions to help guard the trove. Even if you find a book or scroll, and you know it is important, you might need to find someone to read it, and figure out the clues in it. It could takes weeks or months but in the end it will be worth it.

Finally, there's some optimism on here!

The thing with MMO forums (and some forums in general) is people will complain about what they're not happy with, but they won't praise what they are in fact happy with. It makes the forums seem all negative, and they are, but it's not as bad as it looks. Most of the players in an MMO don't even use the forums, so they are representing a small player base.

But yeah, agreed with OP.

That was my aim . . . to get back to an optimisitic discussion. Money aside, the reason you make a game is for enjoyment. I enjoy the ideas being tossed back and forth, but not the slandering.

Well, anyway . . . a nice forum with optimistic threas is TESO elite. Check it out!

I agree. There's nothing wrong with criticizing the game since that is what will help it improve, but people need to acknowledge the good things ESO has to offer as well instead of just focusing on the negative. And personally, I'm quite glad to see they are keeping RP'ers in mind. I've never managed to get around to RP'ing myself, but it's something I've always wanted to get into; maybe ESO is where I'll finally get to try it.

As for puzzles, I think that would be a good idea. I don't think they should be too common, but if every once in a while a player ran across a puzzle the game would be more interesting.

I used to think the same as you, however I then realized its pointless for me to constantly be saying things against an MMO that I am looking forward to playing in the future. If I see something I don't like or don't agree with I state my opinion and leave it at that where I used to constantly bring it back up and kept flogging the dead horse so to speak. Now I just make my opinion known about all issues, support the ones I like and just make a brief comment on the ones I don't like.

Completely Agree with you OP, Unfortunately when passions run high and no one wants to listen to reason it gets out of hand and you lose yourself, no matter your maturity lvl on a regular basis.

I appreciate the RP community even though i dont RP.

THe people who ignore all logic and reasoning to jsut be angry. Just that they want to be angry. Its not my fault but heck if i say one word different from what they believe. It lights fires. Its hard to tread carefully in similar situations, but as long as you dont stoop to their lvl of immaturity and keep it a mature conversation they might see the light.
